Spellchecker (in General)

Is there any chance of making the spellchecker any more 'interactive'?
An 'Add to Dictionary' kind of thing which, even if it has to be humanly modded, after a while the work to maintain it would diminish to almost nothing.
I just get slightly peeved when an absolutely genuine word gets nuked.

That would be way too easily abused, or too difficult to maintain.
But it's a pretty good idea :)
I like the spellchecker as it is. It's kind of like playing the lottery: what perfectly-legitimate, utterly-benign word will it deny me today?

I'm not sure where the abuse could go, and as I said, maintenance would decrease over time.
It just seems such an obvious thing...

It would be abused by people adding words that do not exist?
It's not like people can be trusted with something like that, look at the idiots who try to play wiki edit all the time.

I'd abuse it and get rid of every word that the
Americanz corrupt with a "zeee"

Yeah, and I'd abuse it and take all those unneeded 'u's out of your crazy language. :P

Special J, The bit where you wrote "who try to play wiki edit all the time" was superfluous!
Why not just forward all the posts to Bast?

Shhh Quiet CICC don't give them ideas. =)

We should rename it 'spell chucker'.
LOL!
We could (could we?) have the edits viewable and reverseable like the wiki?
Then I could add humour to it! :D

Did you not just get spell-chucked for using the word 'humour'?
GL automatically <nospellchecks> all his posts, top to bottom, hadn't you noticed?
QBJohnnywas

I had noticed. The tags are becoming GL's signature instead of ;).
Oh yeah!
html br and nospellcheck are your friends! :D
I couldn't post this message without them! ;)
Why bother to go through the pain of correcting the mistakes, when you can just nospellcheck them away! :D
And there's something wrong with reading them for fun, GL? o.O
I don't know how that happened. :P

I've just had a vision of Bast running a special computer program that takes huge chunks of text and changes correct spellings to incorrect spellings.
Cue insane grin and hours of fun for Bast....

i think i would like the dictionary to acknowledge that many words have the letter "u" in them. e.g. armour, favourite.
now i have to use nospellcheck to spell in the english language.

Everyone already has the option to add a word to the dictionary. If you want to add some humour to the dictionary, then go to Settings->update and put that word into the 'name' field. ;)

Great idea Bart! Perhaps I'll change my name to Armour!
(actually, when you capitalize the A, it doesn't get tagged as being incorrectly spelled!)
Cool! I'm going to be Horrific Mulled Extraordinaire! :)
Maelstrom
April 4 2006 12:32 PM EDT
Mulled or Mullet?
QBJohnnywas
April 4 2006 12:32 PM EDT
That'll be the Horrible Mullet Millionaire.
Mullet makes it past the spellchecker, which is in itself a horrific thing. ;)
