Coil did do a remake of tainted love, but again, I'm not sure about the studio. I was thinking more along the lines of songs that Trent covered...

In the 1987 movie 'Light of Day', Trent appears with an old Cleveland
based band The Problems. They did a cover of the Buddy Holly song, "True
Love Ways". he played the keyboard in the movie.

I can't find evidence that Coil recorded at Trent's studio (if you found some, let me know), but there are connections between them. Name one, and I'll be happy.

i keep getting the same thing. Trent Reznor stalked david bowie. Klaus Nomi remade bowies song, The man Who Sold the World, in 1979.

Klaus Nomi moved to New York in the mid-'70s. One of his sets impressed David Bowie, and Nomi soon found himself backing the star on Saturday Night Live
In 1995 David Bowie sang a duet version of "Hurt" with Trent Reznor on the Outside tour.

• Images in Vogue --> member cEvin Key formed Skinny Puppy (and others) --> Trent Reznor tours/worked with Skinny Puppy members. Lots of connections.
• Klaus Nomi (sang backup for David Bowie on SNL in '79) --> Trent Reznor (toured with Bowie, perfomed live songs with Bowie, appeared on Bowie's video 'I'm Afraid Of Americans', in which Trent was chasing Bowie - probably that crazy 'stalking' stuff you were finding)
• Michael J. Fox (starred in the 1987 movie 'Light of Day') --> Trent Reznor (played the part of the keyboard player in band 'The Problems' in the movie 'Light of Day'. It wasn't exactly a "cameo" appearance, since he was unknown at the time. Just a dumb piece of trivia ;)
