Mentors (in General)

Just a passing thought really. I know this has been discussed but I figured we should bring it up again. Basically this is about the mentor mentee program.
First of all I personally love it. Gives new players someone to rely on if everyone else is busy or whatever.
But I also think that there should be a test to become a mentor. A difficult one. Not some 5 question thing.

So heres what I asking for.

A list of questions for mentors to answer if they want to become mentors.

A solution to finding out how to fire every mentor and then rehiring them back (if they pass test) without ruining the mentees currently in system.

Supposed rewards for mentor who pass and what, if anything, they should be based on.

Any other problems or ideas that relate to this should be posted here so they can be seen together.

like a designated item or money amount for each mentee

How do you mean?

Very basic, but I think all mentors should meet at least these three conditions:

1) Knowlegeable. In all aspects of the game, NOT just their own strat.

2) Friendly. Seriously isn't building community the whole point?

3) Frequent Logger. If the mentor isn't on much, #1 and #2 don't matter.

I'm a frequent logger, and very friendly to new people. Oh, by the way, GW, you're not a "new people", so that's why. :P But i only get my own strat!! lol j/k

but i think that would be a good idea. Other opininos would be great.

good idea GodWolf!

Thanks.
Some more ideas would be to make it a admin or sub admin choice to appoint mentors and then whoever they appoint would have to take the test also. Might not be a good idea sense it could lead to op/mentor complications but it would definitely improve quality of mentors.

As a note I am not critisizing our current mentors. I am just saying that I want to make sure all mentors are up to date on all aspects of game.

Also test should be judged by either certain people deliberately chosen or admins/ sub admins and make tests essay or sentenced based.

Anymore ideas or remarks?

Not to flame you in any way, but the mentor program is fine in my opinion, if the mentor for whatever reason fails they are generally talking in chat and someone else will correct them, and the mentor helps GUIDE them so they get off to a good start, not neccessarily point out everything they are doing wrong and criticize them...also the mentors are asked questions alot, i understand the knowledgable part, but everyone in cb is more knowledgable in some areas more than others would be, thats why you cant do a test unless its some what basic...but anyways if the mentor for whatever reason can't answer the question than the mentor would most likely pm someoen else who is more knowledgable in that area for the answer...the mentor program doesnt only teach the new players, but opens up Veterans to new things they never thought of doing before...last and formost the mentor program is volunteered so if the person can't handle the program than they can leave the program.

BTW- I like the idea you stated about the OP choosing who is the mentor, but also as you stated it may cause too many conflicts.

My 2 cents thats it.

Also i know some mentors are sometimes never on that much compared to others, so i also like your idea to make their a login time limit (i guess that is what you will call it) for the mentors.

Some interesting points and that is why I tried to make this a tentative suggestion at most. I don't want to force this in any way. I just want to make sure everyone is either fine with mentor program or give them somewhere to add improvements. One thing I guess I should say it that I do not want a scrapping or redoing of the program maybe just some add ons. Something to make sure the new players are being taken care of by actie and knowing players. But as for the knowing things going different it should basically consist of knowledge of help, FAQ's, rules of chat and forums, and basic strategy advantages and spell advantages. Any moer ideas or comments?

have/had. You should have gotten a CM the day you finished tutorial. If you aren't a very active CM user check its history and see if its still there.
