Serious Question! (in Public Record)

ok, so after reading the Kriminal/Shamu multi thread it came to my attention that a similar problem could happen to me.

From my understanding, and I could be wrong since i've only played for like two weeks, most multis are discovered by their IP addresses. So my problem is that I share an IP with about 60 other guys.

Im a job corps student so I am currently on a networker server and router and every station on center has the same IP address, and I know at least three other people on this center who play this game besides me. So if my character is using the same IP address as the others then does that make this a multi?

This is my only character and i really do enjoy this game, so it would suck having to quit on a technicality like this. So if an admin can help me answer these questions I would really appreciate it.

And im behind a firewall at all times so I cant load the java applet for chat, so i can only talk through CM's and these forums.

Administrators do not only look at IPs to determine whether or not a user is using multiple accounts. Likewise, transfers by itself do not make a multi, but they can help decide if it's a multi, or friends/family. With that said, there are multiple techniques Administrators may use to determine whether or not a user is a multi. Having two people on the same IP is not immediate bounds for determining/confirming whether or not they are a multi.

(Deleted Ape's comment as it didn't help whatsoever and quite off-topic.)

To illustrate SNK3R's point, there are actually several couples/roommates who play CB from the same IP, and all AOL users have the same IP. There may occasionally be shouts of "multi" against such people by other players, but the admins never take action unless there is actual proof.

However, to avoid any problems, you really shouldn't have any transfers between yourself and the other players on the same IP.

this is a bit different but it is about IP's i have been wondering about. i don't know much but can't people do (bad)stuff with your IP? i dunno like send virus' or something.

Flamey: that already happens each and every day, several times per hour. Dunno about the most recent stats, but the survival time before being 0wned for an unpatched Windows system is just a few minutes (too fast for the security updates to complete). You'll want to use protection (ideally by a virus checker plus a hardware firewall, or just switch to an OS that has less holes than a Swiss cheese) anyway.
