Dizzy, The Adventurer! (in Off-topic)

Mem was so nostalgic about this game, I had to show him part of the end of the game!

As you can see, here I am about to save Daisy from her deep sleep.


And here are the credits. The left side of the screen scrolls all the characters, but I took a snapshot of the hero (Dizzy) and Daisy.

Also, notice that there are 0 stars. You have to collect 50. And, I think this is the most amount of points possible in the game. I might have missed a cherry, though! (They're worth 200 points.)

:D I had sooo much fun with that game! Nearly as much as an old BBC micro game 'Citadel'!

Secondbest thing about Citadel (after finding out how to kill the big reaper looking things...) was that my dad's BBC used to overheat and crash after about an hour of use, even with an external fan... Never got to finish it.. :(

Oh, that's bought back memories of another game... Can't remember what it was called, but you had to take over and control types of robots and hack into systems... There was something about radiation as well..

Ah the BBC Micro. I remember watching my dad attack a space station in Elite, just to record the number of 'Vipers' (police ships) he could kill.. He was noting his score down and I think he got bored in the end. ;)

It was called Cholo! :D And someone has made a newer version of it. Will have to go have a look! ;)

I've decided that that wasn't the version I played and am determined that there is a sequel or prequel of the game that I had played. I'm sure of it!

There were about 7 (if not more) Dizzy games. Treasure Island dizzy is the one I remember most. :)

Of course the one that I played was called The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy, so get on it, SNK. I need to see some screen shots of the end of that one!

Okay, so I'm just about finished with Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy. Mem told me to post a shot of my next star, so here it is. By the way, you have to collect 250. I really hope I didn't miss one before I get to the end of the castle...

Here I am being pushed off the boat by the mean pirate. What's up with that? I mean, I did give him his keg back...

Here I am at the very end collecting one of the last stars. Only 10 left to go!

That's just... fantastic, for lack of a better word.

Left: Picture of the boat that you find an empty chest on
Right: You get a non-rustable pickaxe and hit the bottom with it. You can go under (provided you're fast enough to get under the bubbles that keep floating up) and find a few stars and a coin you give to the Shopkeeper to get your green bean.

Spoilers ahead; don't read if you don't want to see the ending. Finally finished the game! This was an unbelievably difficult game and extremely long.



Left: The barrier to the boss. If you don't collect all 250 stars, you won't be able to get in. I have one star left to get.
Middle: Here's the last star.
Right: The message you get for collecting the last star! Yay!



Left: Here's where I touch the last star. Notice the '0'. Duh!
Middle: Time to save Daisy!
Right: After climbing the really long tower, you get to the top to battle the wizard.



Left: Begin the battle.
Middle: Jump over his wizard spell.
Right: The spell hits the mirror behind me, I jump over it again, and...



Left: He gets hit with his own spell.
Middle: Then he falls off the screen...
Right: Time to rescue the very lovely Daisy!



Left: Reunited once again!
Right: The end screen with score display.
P.S. This has got to be the most pathetic endings in a game ever! Nothing else comes after this. A great way to spend a whole day playing with a horrible ending!

You can't blame them for making such a long game and then running out of memory on the cartridge for a decent ending!

Funny stuff though.

I vote for SNK3R to get a second life, so he can come out and enjoy the sun for one.

In 1988 my father bought me a "Sinclair SPECTRUM 128K ZX+2" [WOW, It sounds like an IMB mainframe, but it was a machine similar to calculator ;), which btw. I loved]
I played Dizzy for days.

Those happy days...

You can thank me for turning SNK on to the game. I played it to no avail as a young lad, and now I finally know someone that has beaten it. I can die happy now.

Daisy seems like a very prone-to-trouble sort of chica. Has the dashing egg committed to a lifetime of rescuing her repeatedly?
