PayPal is free to sign up but they take a % of every transaction you make.

...Unless you are buying something from someone else, then they don't take a percentage.

To keep things as cheap as possible, I have 2 paypal accounts (their rules say I could, but please read the rules yourself, as cash is involved). 1 account is a personal account. Here everything is free, but I can't receive credit card payments on it without "upgrading" my account. Once "upgraded" (which my other account is) sending cash still is free, but for receiving cash there is a small fee.
