Are you your own boss? (in Off-topic)

Just wondering if anyone here has their own business. Buying and selling CB items doesn't count. I'm working on a project for school, which involves alot of research and questionaires. The main part of the school project is writing a business plan, and because I plan to open a fitness center, thats what the business plan is about. My problem is that the internet has way to much information, and I would like to hear from a real life perspective. There is a difference between book smart and street smart, all I have is what the books tell me, not experience.

Also, anyone who is employeed at a health club or is maybe any body who is a health nut may be able to help..

My fitness center- which I am writing the business plan for, is not just a school project - I plan to make it become real.

What are some things you would like to see?

If you look at this example franchise (www.butterflylife.com) that is pretty much along the lines of what I want, but not for just females, but for everyone, no matter the age/gender, etc. I want something that promotes more than skinnyness and muscles, the main objective is to promote good health and wellbeing. I want to use this as ideas and what more I need to research in starting this business. Any info would be great - this is alot harder than I thought =(

There is one gym / studio around here that advertises a difference - they have no mirrors on the walls, so if you are really not fond of your body shape, you don't have to remind yourself of it. Personally, I don't mind mirrors, but I think it's a good business idea. In a mature industry, what you need is a "differentiator".

Yeah, the main thing I am worried about is wellbeing and health... you can be 200lbs and in decent health, and you can be 90lbs with high blood pressure (etc etc)
