Name that tune (in Contests)

AdminG Beee July 16 2006 10:52 AM EDT

Band (or artist), and name of song for the 25k that's doing the rounds at the moment.

Take away my pain and sorrow,
Then I might make it until tomorrow

Spending Time By: James Cherry?

AdminG Beee July 16 2006 11:22 AM EDT

Not the one I have in mind, sorry.

AdminG Beee July 16 2006 7:21 PM EDT

These threads don't normally stay unsolved for so long. Glad to see google isn't turning up anything quickly this time...

Clues may follow when I wake in the morning. It'd be nice if someone could solve it first though.

AdminG Beee July 17 2006 9:45 AM EDT

From the same song:

Nothing comes from nothing,
Truth must be told

Maelstrom July 17 2006 10:16 AM EDT

I know I've heard that song before, but I can't remember what it is! :(

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] July 17 2006 10:26 AM EDT

my first guess is madonna but i doubt it

AdminG Beee July 17 2006 11:16 AM EDT

It's not Madonna.

It is a great tune from a superb, (if somewhat less well known) band.

chappy [Soup Ream] July 17 2006 12:22 PM EDT

I think I had this album when I was a child ... its not off of The Chipmonks Volume Two is it?? The one where Alvin is on bass and Simon takes over the vocals ... Theodore is on drums I believe ... ??

:P google can't seem to find anything close on this .. unless it's The Mighty Mighty Bostones 'Royal Oil' lol

Maelstrom July 17 2006 1:59 PM EDT

How about another hint? Maybe year the song came out, or genre, or something?

I know it, and I think I have it somewhere in my collection, but I need something to narrow my search, or to further jog my memory...

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] July 18 2006 7:01 AM EDT

dry your eyes mate from The Streets?

quicksilver [/me Forge Stuff :D] August 6 2006 4:37 AM EDT

I guess I'll have to slip G_Beee $25k to find out the answer?

SuiteStuff [C and S Forgery Lmtd.] August 6 2006 5:42 AM EDT

it sounds something like A7x like Sieze the day, but i don't think G listens to that kind of music or knows what that is!

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] August 6 2006 8:06 AM EDT

Sounds like the blues to me but my brains like a sieve .

[P]Mitt August 6 2006 4:09 PM EDT

A random guess, but perhaps

Spending Time
by James Cherry

Send to Mitt if I win :)

AdminG Beee August 6 2006 5:16 PM EDT

Once I was stronger
Now I am weak
I've never needed anyone, like I need you.

--

I guess you could label the genre as "folk".
The group is not unknown by any stretch of the imagination however they're definitely not well known either. My plan had been to come up with some lyrics that would prove difficult for you to google. That said, I know the group, album name and title of the song and now that I've looked I can't find any reference to the lyrics on google either :/

Perhaps this one is too vague and I'll need to come up with something a little more straight forward if no-one can get it.

PS. You could say it comes from a_HUGE_album.

AdminG Beee August 7 2006 6:13 AM EDT

OK, so this one isn't going to be solved without a clue.

It's track two on this giant album that you're looking for. Name of group and name of track to win the cash.

QBJohnnywas August 7 2006 7:08 AM EDT

grrr

Phrede August 7 2006 10:42 AM EDT

Its not a song by Runrig is it ?

Phrede August 7 2006 10:49 AM EDT

Is it rescue by the Tartan Amoebas ?

AdminG Beee August 7 2006 11:33 AM EDT

Yay !! Well done Freed.

G Beee (Lorenzo) 164.129.1.39 {cb1}Freed (newfreed) $25000 -- see /bboard..001r9F 11:32 AM EDT

Phrede August 7 2006 11:40 AM EDT

Its amazing what you can do with a little imagination and Amazon/Google

I will be thinking of a similar contest in the next few days :)

QBJohnnywas August 7 2006 12:45 PM EDT

I went down the same route as Freed but lost my patience when I kept having to interrupt my search to do some work in the office!

Well done!!!

And G, that was tough...even knowing the answers now, it's still not easy!
