Why did the [Tattoos] links change to [] in various Wiki pages?

Perhaps due to:

That revision looked like Jon fixing one of the aforementioned messed up blank links.

The de-borking was to repair the problem. As far as I could tell all links are now back to working?
What was the problem, though?
