Please explain this scoring to me (in General)

Over my last ~50 non-challenged battles I have lost to 5 or 6 different chars. All but one of them are over my pr/score, and I lose to them on the first fight. However the character American Solo takes two fights to beat me. This is great for me, because it is free money/exp. However, I want to know why my score should go down if he is losing to me. I was at around 81k before I left, and I returned to around 75k score.
Maybe I am missing something and I am losing score from higher people beating me but that makes even less sense.
Somebody help me please :)

You gain less score from the win than you lose from the secondary loss...

you will loose a small amount of your score when beaten by a higher ranked char, but a much larger portion if beaten by someone with a lower score.

It is pretty standard in "ladder style" scoring systems. Don't worry about it though. Focus on your score starting every day, or every 12 hours or whatever. As long as you are gaining day to day, you are doing well.

I will log off for 3 hours between burning BA, and drop 100k score (or more sometimes), but it is made back up relatively quickly, and at the end of the day I have raised it.... that is all that really matters.

Also pay attention to your history graph as it gives you the best "historical" idea of your overal progress.

Okay, but why is it that the secondary loss will drop me more? Not that score is really that big of a deal, but it doesn't quite make sense to me.
Is there a good explanation for it?

The win gains you little score because it is against a low level char, the loss is the exact opposite, a loss to a low level char, which hacks score away quickly.

O okay, makes sense now. Thanks guys

basically I think the answer is more code based than anything, but Lord knows I have been wrong before. When something like this strikes you as odd, try to think how it would be solved.

In this case the system would have to first check and see if your lost because you were recently battled and then see if the recent battle was from the same opponent and that you did not "heal" yourself after being battles and this lack of healing cost you the fight. And yes, you CAN heal yourself, IF you are fighting at the same time you are being attacked.

Then comes in the issue of actuall healing. Lets say you attack and win, but it cost you some HP and you have not fought again nor healed yourself, then what? If you say so what then the easy answer to fix ALL losses and how they affect your score would be, fight one softball target that only knocks your HP down a little, then log off. Now anyone who fights you would be fighthing you while your not healed, and thusly not affect your score even if they should.

I have no clue if this even close, but it could be one reason why it is occuring now.

Unless there was some kind of flag that tells cb whether I all minions alive or only some minions alive. Then the rewards could be based on which value the flag had.
But, then again I could be wrong.

Why does anyone care about their score so much? Only effect that it has is to change the rewards of the people that fight you...
