Little question - Protection (in General)

Does it [Protection] protects against DD [Fireball]?

The short answer is yes. Protection actually protects against virtually all forms of damage (although I am not sure about AMF backlash) and I am pretty sure it protects from GA

Protection doesn't lower AMF backlash, but does lower GA damage. :)

Decay?

I think AMF is the only thing that reduces Decay damage.
