A More Realistic CB (in General)

Here is a thought:

the next skill should not be magic, though those SHOULD be implemented, the next skill should be BLOCKING

Blocking, in terms of tank damage
the skill should not be trained up so that it is impossible to lock tank damage, but should rather be treated like GA or VA, and have ot be trained up to the damage which would be blocked.
-the chance of blocking an attack would be in percentage, so if a tank would do 10k damage, and you have a 15K Block skill, there should be a percentage chance (which jon could work out better than I) that the minion with block will block all damage that the tank would do.

there could be variations too, like the comparison of ST/DX
-if the ST/DX is greater on the attacking minion, the percentage to block should go down

then PTH can be factored in... plus items (shields)

when blocking, if you have a sword equipped, the PTHnumber/3 (so a +100 sword divided by 3 =33.3) the quotient goes directly into the % to block the attack..
shields could do the same thing too, but maybe divided by 2

anyway, i think that it would make CB more realistic to what would happen to life, because when you thgink about a battle, what would actually happen graphically, you see 4 minions standing single file, getting hacked at by the opposing team

well, i wrote too much... thats my 2 cents on the next skill

1) Realism plays little to no role in whether a feature of CB is "good" or "fun" (see "lochaber axe" in CB1)
2) We've seen a marked decrease in "all-or-nothing" feature effects (see AMF).

Now, if you positioned this as a damage-reduction skill rather than a damage-elimination skill, it might have a better chance...

Doesn't sound much different to evasion in practice

NOT that it is a bad idea, but, how does it differ significantly from not only purpose but chance of use, from Evasion and Protection.

Consider a tank has to give up Bloodlust and/or Archery to get it.

Also consider the relative absurdity of a mage "blocking" a tank. I think mages would be the only ones really wanting to train this skill and they would be the least likely to fit into your real world example.

Again, not to say it is a bad idea, but to me it sounds like training evasion and protection together would accomplish a similar goal.

And, to be fair, sense this is supposed to get rid of damage, Evasion does the same thing. So why mess around with blocking when evasion right there? Same all or nothing effect....

/me hands scy a piece of scotch tape for his monitor that says "Blocking".
