Thank Mian! (in General)

Mian has add two great new features to Frodbot!

You can now find out which admins are on by sending a PM to Frodbot "admins"
=> Frodbot admins
Admins found: ['bartjan', 'SNK3R']

If you want to find out what rooms a player is in, ask Frodbot "whereis ". (it works with partial names or common tags as well)
=> Frodbot whereis bart
User found: ['bartjan in new players']

=> Frodbot whereis cb1
Users found: ['{cb1}Freed in moto*s minions', '{cb1}smallpau1 in carnage', '(CB1)Atomicboy in carnage']

cool!

Sir Leon [Soup Ream] August 10 2006 2:21 PM EDT

That should come in handy.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 10 2006 2:31 PM EDT

Hokey Smokes, that's awesome!

bartjan August 10 2006 3:45 PM EDT

I assume you used my name, as it and its location is hard coded in Frodbot?

Negator August 10 2006 6:03 PM EDT

I thought your location was hardcoded in the CB2 chat engine, bart. :)

AdminJonathan August 10 2006 8:17 PM EDT

good to see Frodbot alive and well

AdminNightStrike August 21 2006 10:13 PM EDT

How about a command "activeadmins" that gives you a list of admins that are actually at the keyboard?

BootyGod August 23 2006 5:46 PM EDT

Actually thats a great idea from Night. I mean, you can't actually do active but you CAN do time sense last activity can't you? That would be GREAT! Helps to find active ops/admins AND to know if you wasting your time by asking your friend "are you on?"

AdminG Beee August 23 2006 5:51 PM EDT

"any ops active?" usually works in chat too :)

BootyGod August 23 2006 5:55 PM EDT

Actually, no it doesn't. ALot of ops feel it fun to just ignore that kind of question. Especially when the person asking is me lol. Still, think it would be nice =D

=> Frodbot whereis angel
<Frodbot> User found: ["Angel_of_Death in Angel of Death's room"]

I was expecting to find at least three angels of death.. bummer. Anyway, nice new features! Thanks Mian!

Frod August 24 2006 8:51 PM EDT

You can sense last chat activity, but not last non-chat activity (fighting). So unless an admin is chatting, they can be playing away and still appear idle.

Also, the "finding only one player" problem should be fixable just by not bailing on the first matching player name found.

Otherwise, nice work, Miand.

=> TriviaBot admins
<TriviaBot> Admins found:
<TriviaBot> bartjan, Idle time: 14 minutes, 42.586 seconds
<TriviaBot> SNK3R, Idle time: 4 minutes, 50.142 seconds

I'll talk to drudge and get this put into Frodbot, if this is what you guys are interested in. Like frod said, it only works with regards to chat activity, so they still may be fighting, and have an idle time of 14 minutes. If wanted, I could also work on an idletime command for Frodbot, that gives the idle time for a user. (This I am only about 90% sure of. The reason is that I am not making Frodbot keep track of this data, cb chat keeps track of it internally and frodbot is just displaying what cb tells it. Jon may have been clever enough to keep track of all cb activity, but I doubt that. Hence the 90% certainty :P)

Re the above two posts: That is not a bug, that is just the way those people are named. Angel_of_Death, looks the same as AngeI_of_Death, but when frodbot lowercases them, they become angel_of_death and angei_of_death. Obviously the second does not match your search of 'angel', so you only get one result.

Miandrital August 25 2006 2:35 PM EDT

reformatted the first paragraph, should make more sense now =D :

SNK3R August 25 2006 2:36 PM EDT

What is this, Big Brother reversed? Heh... ;)

bartjan August 25 2006 3:03 PM EDT

For admin duties, it shouldn't matter if I'm idle or not. People should learn to just tell in a PM/CM what they want, and have patience for the results. Hardly anything is time critical.

Also, I have no Java (well, no Sun Java) at work, so I have no chat there, but do play CB and access the forums. I also seldom chat while asleep.
So an idle timer for admins is not that meaningful.

Miandrital August 25 2006 3:18 PM EDT

sry bart I forgot about this:
"I assume you used my name, as it and its location is hard coded in Frodbot?"

yes, so if any admin changes their name, it would need to be changed in Frodbot.

And regarding the idletime command, I understand your point, which is why I didn't put it in in the first place. However, now that it is done, it might as well be put into frodbot :P.

NSFY August 25 2006 3:33 PM EDT

Really bartjan ? The last PMs I sent to you and SNK3R have yet to be answered and this is day 14.

bartjan August 25 2006 3:56 PM EDT

I guess you haven't checked central bank's transfer log?
