Love Song Writing Contest (in Contests)

It's my wedding anniversary this weekend. I've been married a year now and it's fantastic! So to mark the occasion I'm holding a contest. What I want is a love lyric ( a poem will also be accepted, so long as it's sort of in a song verse/chorus framework).

Now, maybe I'm biting off more than I can chew here, but the prize will be a finished song: I will set the lyric/poem to music and record it. The finished item will be posted on my band's myspace page for download.

I will also be putting together a cash prize, so donations to the contest are welcome!


The closing date for this will be Friday 8th September and the winner will be the one that moves/inspires me most. I will say though, that if I'm very inspired there may be more than one winner...

Not many rules: Your entry must be PG and must fit (if loosely) into a song framework - so keep it within about three or four verses and a chorus.


One more thing: I'm afraid I don't take requests for a particular style - tunes come out as they come out - so anything I do will be in my style. Apologies in advance if any winner's song is not to your taste!

OK I totally blame Johnnywas for this. As I spun ideas for a song in my head, this kept spilling out and getting in the way. Since I have no other place to deposit it, I deposit it here, or it will never go away. I have no idea if you could make it a song, but I think it is a better poem.

I can imagine it sung as sort of a soft ballad. For some reason it reminds me of songs by Current 93...
