I'm putting this to bed now. Thanks to those that did enter. Quality was pretty high even though quantity of entries wasn't. I'm afraid there was one clear winner pretty much from the moment I read the entry. And that is:

Sefton!!!!!

But in second place because of comedy value was Slashundhack's interesting country song! I laughed myself stupid after reading it.

The pot was a grand total of 500k, which I'm going to split between the two, 300k to Sefton and 200k to Slash. I'm already at work on putting Seft's words to music, but I may also be doing an 'interesting' version of Slash's tune.

OK I totally blame Johnnywas for this. As I spun ideas for a song in my head, this kept spilling out and getting in the way. Since I have no other place to deposit it, I deposit it here, or it will never go away. I have no idea if you could make it a song, but I think it is a better poem.

This Rose

Red rose, red rose, come hither to,
for in your thorny stem profess
I plucked you from the solid ground
denying nature's bountied quest.

Red rose, red rose, please do not weep,
you petals on the ground I tread,
For in your dieing gasping breath,
my love for her grows within its stead

Oh flower Oh Joy Oh Spring
with buds a-burstin and birds that sing
Oh night Oh stars Oh endless sky
A girl whose beauty does not lie

Red rose, red rose, ask not from me,
with your accusing leaves a-whither
I did what I thought I must do
a bouquet for my love I must gather

Red rose, red rose, I shed a tear,
But not for the loss of your sweet mother
I shed my tear for all to see,
I shed my tear for yet another

Oh smile, oh love, oh flame
I gathered this with not a shame
Oh sight, oh life, oh woman true
I gathered this rose just for you

Truth be known she ain't much to look at, Her breath smells of old socks and a world of pain, Takes after her mother who looked like a land bat, All my friends look at her with nothing but distain. chorus,, But ya know I love her dear, Ya still am happy to curb my beer, Cause my love is an English bulldog, And her love it keeps me clear,...........Ah honeyed country seems to work best for me that way any ways.
