I understand the desire to keep resetting the play by play switch to Off, as I'm sure it reduces server load. Can we compromise, however, and reset it to On non-win instead?

I am with NS on this. I hate having to fight one battle just to see one thing. Be nice to just lose and see it.

I don't know why HTML seems to mess that up every time for me. ='(

Whatever you believe in is punishing you!
I'm taking it from a compromise standpoint. I understand the need to turn it off. However, make the default "on non-win" is what I ask.

if you use FF you can use Fexy's script you can set the PBP on non-win.

During the gestation of CB2, Myonax and I plead our case once more to have the play-by-play be a persistent setting, at least for supporters. We didn't get much of a response. *smile* I have never been able to figure out why it is set up the way it is...
Right, but I'm going for a compromise. If you make it persistent, then it will essentially always be On. I'm asking to reset it to On non-win.

Agreed. Your compromise makes sense, I was just adding a push for a true, persistent hold, so we would each get to choose what we wanted the default to be.

Perhaps this is one of those features which require a certain "implementation fee" =)

Well, I just thought of a reason why Jonathan might like the way things are... essentially, this "auto-off" every night makes sure that people don't leave it on just by accident or without intention. I assume the play-by-play takes at least a bit more processing per battle, at least to construct the strings (data would already have to exist to know the outcome of the battle). And since having to turn it on is a minor annoyance at most, Jonathan maybe figures no need to bother?
Hence my "server load" comment in the original post. Here's an even better idea, though: Only reset people to On non-win that have it set to On. This way, if it's Off, it stays off.

Agreed again...persistent storage and your idea can work well together...
