2-player co-op xbox games? (in Off-topic)

AdminJonathan October 15 2006 10:33 PM EDT

My dad likes to play 2-player co-op xbox games with my sister. But _only_ 2-player games. So far he liked the Baldurs Gate games and D&D: heroes. I'm planning to get him one of the LotR games next. And of course there's Halo.

Lego Star Wars and Super Monkey Ball are also maybes.

What else should I look at?

48Zach October 15 2006 10:45 PM EDT

Splinter Cell.. If he has a xbox 360, wait, and get the new splinter cell that is coming out.. I will have more for you later..

What type of xbox?

AdminJonathan October 15 2006 10:58 PM EDT

Just the original Xbox.

Here are some games that are great for co-opperative modes..

Ghost Recon
Tom Clancys Rainbow 6
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Brothers in Arms
Star Wars: Battle Front 2
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
Conker: Live & Reloaded

Champions of Norath is lots of fun. It's like the Baldurs Gate games for xbox.

Other than that, I'm clueless. I guess it all depends what kind of games they like.

48Zach October 15 2006 11:07 PM EDT

Most of the games i posted were shooters, with a couple RPG's mixed in.

Miandrital October 15 2006 11:22 PM EDT

This list might help.
Most of the coop games are shooters, and I dont know what you want so browsing the list yourself might be better. On computer though, Diablo 2 pwns all other coops :)

AdminJonathan October 15 2006 11:57 PM EDT

Unfortunately that page lists games all the way back to 1991 without any further categorization. Not very useful when I'm specifically looking for Xbox games. :)

If you're using linked X-boxes, Serious Sam 2 is THE shooter to have for co-op mode.

Silatt October 16 2006 12:30 AM EDT

Dynasty Warriors 4 & 5
Hunter the Reckoning
Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks
Pariah
Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2
X-men Legends 1 & 2

Jon, definitely get Super Monkey Ball. That spells hours of endless fun.

I'm an older (mostly ex) gamer. Old enough to have seen the original Star Wars in the cinema back in 1978. Old enough to have played Space Invaders and Asteroids in the arcades!

Star Wars Lego is something I've spent hours playing in co-op mode with my 8 year old cousin. It really is a great little game, with enough depth and fun for the 'older' player lol. It's something I've got in common with BarzooMonkey, I hear he spends Sundays doing the same!

Both the Star Wars Lego games are worth the money.

X-Men Legends is fun, cuz you get to BE the xmen and use powers (iceman is my fav).

Hunter the Reckoning is a fun half-isometric/top-downish type zombie kill game with guns, arrows, swords and stuff, but can get frustrating a bit as it is hard.

Tetris Worlds is way fun two player.

Another fun two player game is Timesplitters 2, its a co-op 1st person shooter with a fun adventure, not unlike halo, but without as much aliens and stuff. Although on TS2 while screwing around with my friends, I did manage to break the game by driving the car into a building that shouldn't have a car in it, I was unable to get the car out of the building, and so that kinda sucked as you needed it to finish the level. :)

I think Blinx 2 is two player, but I've only played it single player. (I love blinx games)

Outlaw Golf 2 is great fun, I know it is golf, but trust me it is fun.

The Warriors is definitely one you shouldn't miss, great fun and love the stuff you get to do.

I second the hunter games being hard. There is the original and a specific X-Box sequel (I think Wayward was the PS one, Redeemer might be the X Box one)

Timesplitters 1 and 2 are great, as is Super Monkey ball.

The original X-Men is better than the sequel.

Champions of Norath has a great Dark Alliance feel, I've not tried the sequel though.

Steer clear of the LotR games, they are super frustratingly hard. Could lead to console damage. ;)

"Steer clear of the LotR games, they are super frustratingly hard."

That makes me feel l33t, I beat TTT as a rental when it first came out. :)

It does kinda suck for 2player when one player is much better than the other, since if one dies then you both have to start over.

Yowzer! ;)

I think I gave up on TTT at the mass battle where you need to use the catapults to pull down the Elephants.

I hope that was in TTT. :/

Oh, Lego Star Wars is supposed to be good, with the sequel (comprising the original three movies) being superb, but I've not played either. :(

Halo was good, and better than it's sequel (which might be 360 only?).

48Zach October 16 2006 4:09 PM EDT

Halo and Halo2 are for the original xbox.. Halo3 will be coming out shortly, and said by microsoft to only be for the xbox 360..

The new Lego Star Wars is one of the funnest games i ever played.. My friend and I played that game for a good 6 hours before we were told we were on too long.

Davie October 16 2006 4:26 PM EDT

from what i heard halo 3 is coming for PS3 as well??? Not to get off topic or anything

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] October 16 2006 4:44 PM EDT

i think the next game i will be getting is Lego Star Wars 1 and/or 2, i heard it was one of the best star wars games they've ever played, even compared to brand new ones!

Hyrule Castle [Defy] October 16 2006 5:27 PM EDT

if your father like bulders gate i would go with champions of norath 1 and i think theres 2... they are both very good games... i know they on the ps2... i don't know about xbox but if they are i suggest getting them :D

Dr Nutmeg October 27 2006 7:01 AM EDT

Can I just add something
Me and my girlfriend are always looking for decent 2 player coop games on the X Box and our faves so far have been as follows

Halo
Halo 2 (currently playing)
Desert Storm (Her Favorite)
Time splitters 2

And I will be trying some that were listed on this forum.

There are others that said 2 player on the back of the box but it was just a versus rather than coop. These games were still fun but nothing beats playing together.

My favorite versus has to be Burnout Revenge or Takedown.

Hope this helps

what the hell is wrong with the spell checker?

BootyGod October 27 2006 10:28 AM EDT

Conker: Live and Reloaded is fun, Star Wars 2 (this game is the game for multiplayer cooperationg), Madden (if they in to sports games)

matteo48 October 27 2006 11:10 AM EDT

My brothers and I enjoy playing FIFA and time splitters games!

Unappreciated Misnomer October 27 2006 2:06 PM EDT
