Strat talk: What Tat to hold? (in General)

deifeln October 30 2006 10:26 PM EST

I just added a tattoo holder to my single MM mage so that he could use an McM ans a CoI. My FF is now doing too much splash damage to me in melee. What should I re-ink my tat to?

Also, I have a few hundred thousand extra exp on my new tat holder what should he train?

i think personally (not too good) that you should try a Toe, cause that stops AMF damage apparently, and as for your other minion... i would try DM, AMF, or AS... not so sure on the AS unless u got GA... because no point of having a lot of hp, unless GA is hitting... and no point training either if you opponents DM is higher than ure levls of AS or GA... If either of them are to your liking... idk, maybe some HP and PL?

Not to good with phantom Link but i think it takes away damage from an opponent.. and has it hit ure minion... so with the PL u would need hp...

Or else a big meat wall...

SF all the way...

And for the enchanter, I like AS DM and some PL

Well, you have to take into account that the ToE's effect on your mage would be halved because it isn't on your mage.

That said, I would recommend either a SF or RoS, depending on your 2nd minion, and it's role.

For me, I have the same basic setup, except a Tank instead of Mage, that I want to be able to equip extra stat boosting equipment to. My second minion is sort of an Enchant/Wall.

You could always set it up like me, with a SF on the 2nd minion, with AS, AMF/EC/DM, and PL on it, with an AoF to boost the effects of AS and PL.

That said, a RoS would be useful, but less useful because it is only be used on a 2 minion team. That makes AS quite a bit less effective.

It's kind of the question I've been asking myself for the past day or two. I'm eager to hear the answers of other people.

Casting AS is a waste, because this minion has such low exp compared to my mage, I'm going to try putting all exp into DM....

Miandrital October 30 2006 10:44 PM EST

AS isnt a waste if you are using a Familiar. And if you have intentions of using your character all the way up to 1 mil mpr or so, you will have plenty of exp for AS.

Miandrital October 30 2006 10:46 PM EST

Also, you probably should swap out the AoI on your mage, because otherwise your familiar gets targeted first, which isn't entirely useful considering your DB and evasion.

it is a good strat, I've told many new players to use it, it is very effective, it isn't as boring as the ol' SFBM.

first minion, mage with FF/MM, evasion, HP.

2nd minion, AS enchanter, holding the SF.

think of it this way:

your SF will have less than half the HP on the mage, it will die, no matter what before melee, if they have ranged. they will on average kill your SF in round 2 or less.

25% of the tat level is still small. so thats why AS is so useful, and due to the AS you don't have to keep diluting as much into HP, so you can pump MM or evasion.

AS is cost-effective on 3 more minions, you should have ME:F.

deifeln October 31 2006 9:24 PM EST

do you think using DM and AS is ok?

check out my strat deflein, its the one Flamey is attempting to tell you.. if you have any question,s gimme a holla

Flamey October 31 2006 11:14 PM EST

it is your pick, to use DM or AMF, or maybe just even AS.

when you think about it, you've got a familiar, it wont last long, you have you as well, both ranged DD. you're looking for the Quick kill, you want to last at least till round 3.

what will help you? i don't know, using DM will reduce their AS and GA, but your DM has to be really big for some of those using RoS, i suggest using AMF, at least it can not be altered at all, and helps against those other mages.

like i said, big risk in DM with a lot of RoS/AS teams around.

If you want to keep the AoI on your FB and not have your faliliar infront of your enchanter you could maybe take the decay off if its a base one and put on a fearsome base dagger and ranged weapon .. they wouldnt do any damage but they would be weapons moving your familiar behind and allowing the AoI on the FB mage
