Raising to the Top (in General)

BootyGod November 1 2006 10:29 AM EST

I am currently writing a article (of sorts) that would give players tips on making a run for the top of the game. Would be intended for players who are new or older players who just want some sound advice.

But this thread isn't about getting you all to look through it. Right now I asking for a few things from the game in general.

First, for advice on what sections you wish to see in it.

So far I have Money, Time, and Strategy. Now strategy isn't advice on what strategies to use, just what kinds of strategies are out there for what kind of player you are. Depending on money and time.

Is there any other section someone would like to see in it?

Also, I would like to request that ANY players, both old and new, give advice to players who want to start actually competing. Stuff like "don't" won't be included.

Some players I mentioned specifically in the beginning are Ranger, PoisoN, DAWG, G_Beee, edyit and a good few others.

So I would really like you players to take a look and maybe say a little something. If you wish it can be anonomous. Just email me at james_k_mind@yahoo.com or Chatmail me what you want included.

Thank for any help.

P.S.: Sorry for the presumption of me thinking I know what it takes. I just starting it. I plan on getting a few players to pick through what I have and making it a community acceptable advice... thingy... manual?

Thanks again!

As long as by "money", you mean "USD", then I think your sections sound very good.

Unless your definition of "top" is "top ten", in which case USD is not really required to reach that. But if you mean top-top, you aren't going to consistently crack the top 3 or 4 without at least a nominal amount of cash.

Some possible sub-sections for your big three:

MONEY: USD vs CBD, Understanding net worth affect on PR, Instaing, Forging
TIME: Understanding BA accrual, Making CB a Lifestyle, Longevity as a Strategy, Buying an Alarm Clock, Buying BA, Understanding Wacky Reward Times/Usages
STRATEGY: Minion Count, Understanding Rewards, Maximizing Rewards, Clans, Building a Fight List

Hope this helps.

How about some advice for those people trying to juggle a fight to the top with having a job, having a life, a relationship? Maybe called 'You Can't Have It All'?

In all seriousness I'll have a think and see if I can come up with some things.

Actually I did put a little something in there about no getting jaded. Not burn yourself out in the first 2 months of NCB *cough*BBQ*Cough* because of over doing it.

But I leave that alone to the largest degree. If you want a private life you should stay off CB =D

Double posting, sorry.

Just a quick update on what i have added to my goals.

Adding something about clans.
Item management before and during attempt. Will include PR, MPR, and NW interactions.
Wacky time management and overall strategy.

Fight Lists. Definately.

The benefits of becoming a supporter to have one (over not having one). And things like how often you should refresh, tips for fighting up to maximise rewards. That sort of thing. ;)

Oh and be in a clan, even if it's a solo effort.

The Bonus types (NCB and NUB), how they differ from normal play, and can they help you rise to the top.

With Four monthly change months, timing the start of your NCB, just after one.

The clan thing is bitter sweet. If you don't have alot of time, then clans are NOT for you.

I will add something about changemonths.

Also, though, I would like to let everyone know I will be beating the NUB and NCB to death. Every suggestion you give will be auto filed through those so no worries. You say pay attention to this (ex: AC) I will add AC and what is the most efficient way to get it for both NUB and NCB.

Tomorrow I will publish one draft hopefully.

err... PoisoN anyone? 80 mil NW on 1.8 mil MPR team, that is quite small, and i don't think USD is necessary for that, I'm pretty sure he doesn't use USD, because I don't think he'd need it.

Almuric already made a 'how to get to the top guide' i don't if you know about it, or if its similar but it is: here

I have indeed included PoisoN into my thoughts Flamey. I made it clear that the only thing you really need to get to the top is a decent amount of time. Time can make up for cash (eventually) and strategy.

The guide I am planning on will probably be far more in depth. Already (rough draft) I have 3 pages. Adding this will be another easily. I also added tons of new ideas.

Ex: How to maximize tank damage without paying as much money. Any guesses? BoNE. If all you need is damage BoNE. Save yourself some cash. Etc, Etc. (I might not actually use it, so Morg users calm yourself)

Yes, NWO is a great team. That's why I asked for the definition of "top". NWO is not _consistently_ in the Top Three. Heck, I touched third place (score) earlier today since I seem to be the only one willing to burn battles to compress the score ladder or knock off current win streaks. But I would not call myself anywhere near the "top", and I am fairly certain I never will be unless I wanted to pony up 400-500 dollars to buy two more minions, plus whatever I needed on those minions. That was the USD point I was trying to make.

Psywolf - I did not by any means burn out. My social and academic studies are prioritized over CB, and I stopped when I realized I had a 47 average in one of my classes. ~_^ I could pick up now and still break 1.2M MPR easily, as well, but I want to maintain my improved grades.

How about a warning about when your NUB runs out .I knew it would be more work less money But wow it was like swimming with the current then BANG turning around and going back up stream dragging a sack of frozen mukaluks.
