Feature request: Blacksmith any item (in General)

AdminNightStrike November 16 2006 8:31 AM EST

Currently, we can only send items to the blacksmith when they are equipped. This is a formal request to allow blacksmithing any item, including those that are unequipped.

Is there any reason it works like this presently?

AdminNightStrike November 16 2006 8:37 AM EST

*shrug*

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 16 2006 8:38 AM EST

Ok...did I write something stupid?

AdminNightStrike November 16 2006 8:41 AM EST

No, that was me saying "I don't know." I've never heard any explanation for why it works as it does currently. That wasn't intended as an insulting reply.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 16 2006 8:44 AM EST

Ok, it's cool. Anyway, I asked because I find that rather annoying myself. If it does not have any purpose then, it should not pose a problem to change this.

So I second that request.

What's wrong with it the way that it is?

I like to blacksmith my items before heading off to bed safe in the knowledge that although I'll be naked for the time it takes the blacksmith to finish the work I'll be fully clothed by the time I wake up again.

It 'aint broke and needs no fixen' imo.

If for example, you get a new weapon and want to BS it up to the size of your current weapon.

You have to equip the small weapon to BS it. And if you do that before you go to bed, your smaller weapon will be re equipped automatically when it comes back from the BS. Leaving you with a night of smallness. ;)

AdminG Beee November 16 2006 9:00 AM EST

Not one to suffer from such "smallness" I'd transfer the weapon to one of my other chars and do the work there.

AdminNightStrike November 16 2006 9:08 AM EST

G_Bee, your response is a good example of something Sefton mentioned in a post a month back or so. It was not favorably connotated.

Actually there is an advantage to the current system. If you want to BS your current gear, you can BS it and then equip your minion with another gear. When the BS finishes with your gear, it will replace the replacement gear. So you can save the trouble of equipping it.

AdminNightStrike November 16 2006 9:16 AM EST

And how would that change after allowing the BS to enhance unequipped items? I'm just saying to make the list of items on the BS page complete, not change how it works.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 16 2006 9:21 AM EST

:) No one likes a night of smallness. ;) But you'd also have to transfer enough cash to the other minion etc.

AdminG Beee November 16 2006 9:24 AM EST

Kinda like turning up at the shop to get work done on your gear and finding out you'd left it at home.

"favorably connotated" or not, all you're asking for is another lazy button.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 16 2006 9:52 AM EST

What, like the 'all available' or character selection drop down on the external transfer page?

Then yeah! Lazy FTW baby! :D

If we can forge an unequipped item, why not blacksmith an unequipped item?
