Yet another Strat advice thread! (in General)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 11:21 AM EST

Nope, this time i'm not trying to loan money, nor recruit for my clan :)

I am looking for advice on my awesome (or not) strategy, and I know well that some of you live for strat discussions :)

My thoughts and pointers on the matter :

First, I like to think it works pretty well, since the only people who farm me are most of the time people with much stronger teams, and my fav list is full of clan people. I like to think I am not that Noobish anymore after 4-5 months :S

Secondly, most of these people are using mage teams, so I am guessing my strat is useful against them (probably via AMF and GA.)

Thirdly, archers wipe the floor with my poor minions, even with my lowly DBs on, and I have an harder time against single minion strats and heavy tanks in general.

And finally, this is what I use to beat all your chars up ;)

My strat:

Minions:

-Ashilizator B:-

Hp: 86,500
St: 85,000
Dx: 76,000

Guardian Angel: 69,000

Equipment:
A Mithril Cuirass (35)+32
A Pair of Leather Gauntlets (2)+7
A Hard Leather Cap (2)+3
A Buckler Of Mandos (10)+15
A Pair of Displacement Boots (0)+35 (currently in forging to +40)

Weapon: A Morgul Hammer (84x373)+26

-Evil Dead DVD Boxset- (I hate the name of this one, though.)

Antimagic Field: 185,000
Ablative Shield: 187,000

Equipment:
A Pair of Leather Boots(4)+3
A Pair of Leather Gloves(1)+7
A Cabasset(3)+7
And Awfully useless Ice Familiar 275,762(which I may re-ink, but only after changemonth is over)

What I am looking for is to maximise my strat as much as possible by tweaking the percentages I put into the various stats and skills.
(or to remove possible useless dilution of Xp)
And to also have an idea of where to put my money (on what part of the equip.) Money which i don't have Atm, but I tend to spend it as soon as I have 1 mil.

Also, if someone has a killer name I could give to my second minion.....(preferably having any relation with Evil Dead apart from naming it 'Ash'.)

I'd really appreciate any kind of response, and I thank in advance anyone who will take some time to read this post :) Oh, and if something's not clear or you need a bit more info, just ask and I'll get that pronto.

Thanks millions :)

I think first off I would stop sinking money into the DBs and look to fix the Glove and Head slot of your tank. With most of his ST and DX being trained, he will do well with stat boosting items. I think any dodge you get by adding any more to the DBs will be less than the bonus from say a pair of EGs and an HoE.

I would tend to emphasize AS more than AMF on that minion, as AS can help vs all strats (and if they have DM then the bigger the better) whereas AMF only against mage strats and base decay (which do not get me wrong is important, but perhaps not equally as important as AS)

If you do start to emphasize your AS more, then you could be less aggressive training HP on your tank. You cannot rely soley on AS without an RoS, but, you can use the hedge to spend more exp into ST and DX.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

P.S. name him Boomstick

Shooto November 27 2006 12:14 PM EST

Any reason you're staying away from using a ranged weapon? Also, you may want to think about adding an AoI on your tank to survive past ranged combat a little better.

miteke [Superheros] November 27 2006 1:25 PM EST

I'd move the GA to the second (or a new third) minion giving your tank better stats and a skill. Drop AS on the second minion if the GA is put here. Put a base protection on your light tank. Don't decrease the AMF, maybe even increase it and focus even more on mage teams. With a large GS and AMF they will implode unless the DM (which is even move nasty to you with your current configuration).

Get a skill on that tank!!! Bloodlust works good in combo with an Ice familiar. Go with archery if you switch to an FF or SF.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 3:11 PM EST

@ Shooto :

I did think about adding a range weapon, seeing as how they are so darn strong right now, but I wasn't sure I could afford to train archery along the other things my tank has trained.

So, to effectively use a ranged weapon, should I, as suggested, move GA on a third minion to put all of my tank's leftover Xp into archery?

</end of dialogue @Shooto>

Less hp, more AS, an AoI EG's and HoE. Noted.

If I indeed recruit a new minion, what should he train, along GA?

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 3:22 PM EST

Hmmm, I don't think i'll be rich enough to hire anytime soon though :S

Would cost me 1.500.000 for the most Xp.

Flamey November 27 2006 3:30 PM EST

usually they'd tell you to just have AS on that minion and have AMF/GA on the other, but you may as well leave it, or you can change to AMF/GA and have your tank training properly, and do, please get BL.

RoS on the AS minion would do nicely, that way you can stop training HP and GA, because of the third minion, have a much higher AS and a better Tank.

when you upgrade your weapon, get up the PTH, you'll need it, the X is really high compared to the PTH.

Flamey November 27 2006 3:33 PM EST

get the AoI on the tank and a ranged weapon, at least a SoD w/ Iron Shots. A RoS would still work on two minions, giving a larger AMF and AS.

but, You'd do much better with 3 minions and and RoS-AS with AMF/GA.

get a loan if you don't have the cash, and always get the expensive option.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 27 2006 3:44 PM EST

Dude, ash... as for a ranged weapon use a SOD... everyones got them an apparently with EXP shots u can own anyone.... i don't know how good of a change that will be... as my guess is SOD or EXP shots.... are gonna get nerfed. So if not that i think xbow is a bow u can use without needing archery trained.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 3:46 PM EST

Recap:

-Hire third Minion
-Put As on him
-Ditch As on second minion in favor of GA
-Re-ink to RoS and put that on AS guy

Point i'd like to clarify :Remove GA from tank and train BL+SoD OR Archery + Bow? (I tend to think that a SoD could become very costy in the long run, and I already have a small ExBow I could use when it comes back from rental...would that do the job?)

Anyone else got any suggestions ?

And thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the help :)

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 27 2006 3:53 PM EST

if i remember right ash... archery only increases pth on bows... not xbows.... so training archery to use any kind of xbow would be pointless...

correct me if i am wrong someone

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 4:06 PM EST

No, you're right. That's why If I use Exbow, or SoD, I can still train BL, whereas with a Bow I'd have to use Archery.

Drama [Just for fun] November 27 2006 5:48 PM EST

You forgot a based protection on your tank and a AoI.

Maybe get a corn on your second minion, but thats a bit expensive.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 6:38 PM EST

Yeah, an AoI and Corns.

At least I can afford base protection :)

What i'd like some insight on is whether I should go BL-Sod/Xbow or
Archery-Bow.

The third minion is almost already a given now, if nobody gives a good argument against it, heh :)

TheHatchetman November 27 2006 6:42 PM EST

<warning: this advice is heavily biased, and should be ignored...>

You should ditch the AMF, and open your team up to single fireball mages. Dont hire a 3rd minion unless u are planning on having no HP or AMF on them either... Ditch the AS while ur at it... Make a Huge EC...

Just my opinion on what would work for me if u did...

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 6:54 PM EST

Thanks for the advice, Hatchetman....

Wait...something is fishy about what you propose there.

Oh, I get it...you are evil, it was all a ploy to make me weak to your team!

</intentional stupidity>

Lol, that won't happen.

Kong Ming November 27 2006 7:41 PM EST

Another thing you can do is to change the Ice familiar to a steel familiar and together with a range weapon on your tank would be pretty good. Tank shooting from the front and steel familiar from the back.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 27 2006 7:51 PM EST

I like the idea of a steel familiar, and frankly I was thinking of re-inking to that. To counter my weakness to archery in general.

Flamey November 28 2006 6:40 AM EST

BL-Sod/Xbow

Archery isn't that good, you've got a MH, so use it :)

BL.

I suggest, SoD w/ Iron Shots, screw Ex. Shots, they cost way too much.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 28 2006 9:59 AM EST

Noted, thanks flamey for the advice.

Now, what bothers me is this:

If I do recruit someone new, according to the price I would have to pay, he'd come with 550k or so exp to train.

So, would it be best to just retrain my second minion's total xp into AS and then train AMF and GA on the third one? Wouldn't that set my team way back in terms of performance?

Or should I just enlist him, train only AS on him (which will begin very small), and change my As on the second minion to GA?

miteke [Superheros] November 28 2006 5:06 PM EST

Keep the AS on the second minion. You want your AS to be really high. AS is awesome if it is really high, and just a big vulnerability if it is too low. It's also best with 3-4 minions so it works with your plans to hire an additional minion. If your AS is not absolutely huge you need to change your strat anyway as you will have a tough time making it into late rounds which you will need to do unless you switch to an archery strat. You may want to consider a ToE to stretch the battles.

Since you are going for a third minion, train AMF + GA on him. Since you are going for long battles use AMF instead of DM.

Final config:
Tank with ST, Dx, BL, base protection. (I agree with the previous post that since you have a MH use it). Equip with Sling of Death and MH. Work towards an AoI and decent stat boosting armor.
Enchanter with AS and possibly a small EC.
Enchanter with GA and AMF.

Your tattoo can be an IF, SF, ToE or even a ToA with this config. I'd stay away from the FF.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] November 29 2006 2:21 PM EST

Thank you very much for the detailed answer.

What you suggest totally makes sense to me. And it keeps close to the general idea I had in mind for my strategy. Will surely make me survive at least some archers too. (Huge AS+GA)

I'm probably going to keep my tat until January 1st, so I'll be using that even if it has been proven to suck :) You never know, CoC could become better during December changemonth...

Now to gather a huge load of moneys...
