How appropriate, I just started reading this when you posted this thread.

I wanted to get a Wii for Christmas. Zelda looks like a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing innovative games like you see on the DS. Only downside is, classic games for the Wii seem pretty pricey compared with ps3 and 360 downloads.

But, I couldn't find a Wii at retail, so I got a ps3 20gb. (I think of it as, "the features of a 20gb 360, plus a blu-ray player, for only $100 more.) Lemmings pushed me over the edge. I can't tell you how much I loved this game 15 years ago, and the ps3 version is pretty sweet in 720p. It's also a pretty nice player for standard dvds. HDMI FTW!

I will probably get a 360 when Mass Effect comes out. That and some other games in the April time frame will be hard to resist. Nothing on the 360 right now really excites me, but if you like shooters more than I do then there is a lot.

ThatOneMan December 22 2006 11:39 PM EST

yes, shooters on 360, Gears of War, Fear, Call of duty 3, splinter cell double agent

Miandrital December 22 2006 11:50 PM EST

Jon, how in the world did you find a 20 GB PS3?

Lemmings pushed me over the edge.

That made me laugh so hard I cried.
If I wasn't a student with no way of affording it then I would probably go for the PS3 when it is released in the UK due to the Sony tradition of being very versatile in game selection and the continued likelihood of pre-owned games being cheap very quickly but alas I'll be stuck getting a pre-owned one in a couple of years by the look of it.

A friend of mine found it, but you see a lot selling in the 500s on ebay, too.

I got a wii on release day. Me and the kids love it. They just made the trial version of the "internet chanel" available, so I thought I'd checkout CB and see how it looked on here. It's not as easy as the comp, but it works.
Though typing this with an onscreen keyboard is not exactly fun.

"If I really wanted the biggest and best gaming machine, I'd buy a PC. "

Comment on that site concerning the PS3 :-)

I like the PC as a gaming platform anyway. However bringing up to speed with the latest developments is costly.
Those new directx10 video cards and HD quality sound cards are pricey!.

However those directx9 cards will still blow you of your feet.

To bad they dont have motion sensor for the pc that would be funny. Or 3d glasses.

Wii is interactive and fun, that's the reason to buy it.

If it looks like fun it probably is, the games aren't that bad on it.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] December 23 2006 5:51 PM EST

Playstation has all of the Eye-Toy software as well as plenty of other hardware that is hugely interactive in a way that far surpasses the Wii, most of that is from the PS2 anyway and with PS3 being backwards compatible means that your definition of fun making the Wii better is rather flawed.

TrueDevil [AAA] December 23 2006 10:30 PM EST

I would say this year would be Xbox 360, I still haven't bought any of those 3 console, but I'm SERIOUSLY thinking to buy Xbox 360 (eventhough I still have tons of PS2 Rpgs that I haven't finished or even played)

I didn't get gamecube, so I guess there's no reason for me to buy Wii, never really liked Nintendo anyway and for PS3, I guess 2008 is probably the year where Ps3 would really start to shine.
