Can someone explain the Archery Skill as it now stands? Because the wiki does not clarify things. A few questions to explain my quandary.
Can you hit with an ELB in ranged without archery? If so, what are your chances?
Can you hit in all three rounds of ranged with an ELB without archery? If so, what are you chances?
I am considering a tweak to my strategy but I need Archery more defined before I make a change.
Thanks.

Yes, but there's a 20% base chance-to-hit, rather than a normal 100% chance to hit like with any other ranged weapon.

Yes, you can, at 20% of the normal chance-to-hit.
All Archery does is bring it up to par with normal weapons, up to the full 100% chance to hit.

So, a ToA, high DX, high Evasion, high + on your bow, and + on your arrows can bring that 20% up without training archery at all?

Thanks much, that is what I needed to know.
without archery you plus works at 20% of it's intended level, that is all...Jon clarified this in the fix threads. it doesn't effect dex based hits, however lacking proper PTh allows evasion to reduce dex based hits quite well.
FYI: Archery affects the ELB differently than other bows. The ELB is the only bow that can be brought to 100% effectiveness with Archery trained. All other bows will be limited to 90% at an Archery of 1.00. So basically, if you're using a bow, you HAVE to use an ELB.
