PL Numbers Query (in General)

OK, so Kitchen Sink has a PL of 94,585 (170,253)

From a Fight Report:

Buck skewered Kitchen Sink's familiar with Fender Telecaster [135721]
Kitchen Sink absorbs damage [135721]
Buck struck deep into Kitchen Sink's familiar with Fender Telecaster [127981]
Kitchen Sink absorbs damage [63725]

According to my Maths (dodgy at best), the last absorb should have been 53k - noone on my side died, so how come the discrepancy?

Also, I had always read the absorb limit as being per round, but it seems to be per fight, as he doesn't do anything again for the rest of the battle - is this right?

The absorb amount is per blow, limited by the PL effect, or your remaining hitpoints * 1.1, whichever is smaller. And yes, it should be hitpoints / .9, but it's not, and that causes bugs.

He absorbs every blow unless absorbing the damage won't keep the other minion alive (thus, it's pointless to absorb).

How do you reach 53k instead of 63725?

1st hit loses 135721*.9 = 122149
Left With 170253-122149 = 48104
so can absorb 48104/.9 = 53449

Thats assuming that the 170k limit is per fight.

I was really just playing around with the numbers to see how the 64k was reached and this was the closest I could get.

I'd always assumed that the absorption limit was per hit - but now I'm not so sure

Not sure what you mean Bart?
If the familiar hadn't had enough hitpoints he would've died, and there would have been no absorption.
There were no other hits, so it's not even as if the limit were per-round.
It's probably not that important, I just don't like using stuff that I don't understand, as it's quite likely to bite you in the end ;-)

Sorry to flog this to death but...
My PL is now 101,249 (182,248)
The fight report below seems to confirm that the PL limit is per fight (the numbers still don't add up, but they're close enough)

Does this imply that any HPs over the effect of PL are wasted?

Not really, since the PL minion can take damage as well.
If a PL minion has PL of 150,000 and HP of 150,000; and comes up against a FB mage, then the minion will only be able to absorb about, what, two thirds? of the damage to the team, since it will be taking damage as well.

As for the per fight vs per round thing... well, I have a low level PL minion (my mpr is only 150k) who can absorb something like 7000 damage; and this minion regularly absorbs 7000 per round...

Vicious: that's not what I'm seeing. I just checked, and my PL minion absorbed 700k+ in damage until the battle ended...

Bart - I still don't understand why my PL is "running out" when no-one elses seems to be.

Hopefully, the free retraining period can help me understand...
