Bids

I was under the assumption "ebay-sytle" bidding was to rid of the Central Bank bidding?

"I was under the assumption "ebay-sytle" bidding was to rid of the Central Bank bidding? "

No, the e-bay style bidding rids people of the problems central bank was causing to players who weren't on when the auction ended. Central Bank was bidding within the last 30 minutes, giving them no chance at the item. However, with proxy bidding, you set your bid to the maximum ammount you are willing to pay. Then, should Central Bank outbid you, the system will outbid them on your behalf.

And i also thought people wanted to rid of it (for this auctions reason) because it was was only the auctioneers item and it wasnt "screwing" anybody by someone bidding "too low"

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 14 2007 8:21 AM EST

it looks like your bid was under what central bank considers market value for that item. Thus you were out bid by him.

Also, you didn't really place an 'eBay-style' bid...

"And i also thought people wanted to rid of it (for this auctions reason) because it was was only the auctioneers item"

those people didn't include me, though :)

TheHatchetman January 15 2007 6:37 PM EST

Furthermore, are you saying that the prices of things should be allowed to go down so that the market can be flooded with 'rares'? Its already gotten to the point where any decently upgrade executioner's swords and katanas are better off to sell to the store...

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 15 2007 6:39 PM EST

they really always have been though, =/

TheHatchetman January 15 2007 6:55 PM EST

So basically... lets remove everything thats not on the following list:

Elven Long Sword [80]
Vorpal Blade [75]
Blade of Thuringwethil
Blacksword of Nan Elmoth [92]
Morgul-Hammer [84]
Elven Long Bow
Assassin's Crossbow
Enforcer's Crossbow
Sling of Death
Slayer Bolts
Slayer Arrows
Seeker Bolts (tho they are useless...)
Seeker Arrows
Explosive Shots
Adamantite Cuirass
Mithril Cuirass (not even sure why to keep this...)
Mithril Chain Mail
Trollskin Armor
Elven Hauberk
Combat Gi
Shadow Cloak
Cloak of the Istari
Elven Cloak
Chain Mail Leggings
Elven Boots
Displacement Boots
Tulkas' Gauntlets
Helm's Gauntlets
Elven Gloves
Beleg's Gloves
Alatar's Gloves
Helm of Durin
Helm of Ecthelion
Helm of Clearsight
Cabasset
Cornuthaum
Buckler of Mandos
Mage Shield
Mithril Shield
Amulet of AC
Amulet of Might
Amulet of Invisibility
Amulet of Focus

And once this is all removed, there will be no need for central bank... or CB's economy... Sorry Lammy, your work was for nothing. Apologies for my sarcastic, lengthy remark. But, you have to realize, under penalty of being wrong if you don't, that Central Bank is a necesary, like bot checks...

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 15 2007 6:57 PM EST

yea, but what i dont understand is Central Bank doesnt really bid that high either, he just bids one thing higher than the last bidder too

TheHatchetman January 16 2007 12:51 AM EST

why would Central Bank need to bid high? Once it outbids, if no1 bids up to market value, it outbids again... why does it matter what Central Bank bids?

Flamey January 16 2007 4:06 AM EST

Hatch, I laugh at your post, you copied all the rares for a sarcastic post to prove a point that would've been gotten? :)

But in reality, the eBay way is right and it's there.

You bid how much you're willing to pay, so if someone outbids, you can't complain, can you?

"yea, but what i dont understand is Central Bank doesnt really bid that high either, he just bids one thing higher than the last bidder too"

Yeah, but that item is gone now. The less there are, the higher the price should be.
