My Next NCB @ 1 mil MPR (in General)

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 23 2007 4:08 PM EST

Well here is what my next NCB will look like at 1 mil MPR, what changes should I make?

Minion 1

HP: 500,000
Jct: 300,000/240,000
MM: 928,657/859,868
Prot: 131,277/132,912 (25)

AG, Hoc, SF, EB, AoI

Minion 2

HP: 500,000
Str: 72,998/62,912
DX: 55,992/62,912
EC: 853,499/1,031,338 (426,749)

TSA, CML, HoD, TG, MS, SC, AoAC, ~12 mil VB

The second minion will have 300+ AC, which will hopefully get it through the ranged rounds combined with prot and EC. Single Tanks/ToA Tanks are going to be a large pain in the butt however, I need a BIG EC to make enough of a dent in their str as to not take out my wall.

I was thinking of just dumping EC for evasion...but then that would make 3 teams in a row using evasion as a major part of the strat, and that is getting boring. I want to try something a little more unconventional :D

at that point, or a little earlier, hire on an AS enchanter

Kong Ming January 24 2007 5:17 AM EST

You should invest in a pair of DB for the mage and I believe the DB's evasion will get passed onto the familiar as well.

Looks good, but I raise an eyebrow at the HP levels. Slightly. Up around the level we're up at now, which is probably where you'll find yourself at a mill MPR, there's a lot of people doing damage up and above 500k per strike. With the HoC around you could be dying in the first two rounds. Ok, you'll be doing the same damage back but if the opposition is a giant single tank, or a couple of MMs on a four minion team with a giant wall there's a big chance that you'll not last very long...

So, more HP might be needed; or as Hatch says an AS minion, either at that point or earlier.....

But otherwise yeah! ;)

I can agree with JW about low HP being a problem... Thats why most of my opponents are teams that rely on an evasionless mage for their damage dealing (I <3 seekers), or tanks that can't hit through my 300k Evasion :)

Kong Ming January 24 2007 9:07 AM EST

I think its a waste of experience to train EC with a big penalty. You should do better dumping all that experience into HP since its a wall anyway ;) Change that TSA into an adam and your AC should increase significantly.

This team only has ~300k less HP then the team I have now, but it does have one less kill slot.

I hate that evasion seems to be the only cost effective way to protect against ranged, it makes designing something different a little more taxing. Maybe the third minion would serve a much better purpose with AMF/Evasion...but three teams in a row with evasion :P

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 24 2007 9:15 AM EST

Well the goal with the team was to reduce a tanks damage with EC and AC, so that the regen from the TSA would keep the wall alive. Unfortunatly that doesn't seem possible until very very very high MPR (with EC coming from concentrated experience).

TheHatchetman January 24 2007 9:15 AM EST

you could always use an AC over the TSA, like Kong Ming said... Block out another 11% of physical damage at the sacrifice of the 25k per round regen (which, if you're getting hit, is crap)...

QBJohnnywas January 24 2007 9:22 AM EST

There are other ways to get through to ranged; but the best ways I've found involve four minions and lots of AC. Throw in a ToE and you're rocking.

Meanwhile: that second minion. I kind of see what Kong is talking about. Trying to cram too many things into one minion is sometimes not the best way to do things. You could get an EC of double that size if all you do with him is train EC...or you could make him an EC/AS minion. He's not really going to do much damage after all; against a tank the size of mine he's not even going to get a hit in. Either make him an enchanter or a wall - either as a focused minion might be more effective. Doesn't take away the kill slot, but doesn't spread him too far either....

Well I effectivly make 10% of my mpr disappear, which is not a great idea haha

I think I will just stick it out with the space nights, wait and see how the team doesn once I get more NW into it. I guess I just wanted to have my fun with a mage.
