Want Advice on my setup (in General)

FsL-masta January 26 2007 2:23 PM EST

yeah as you know i haven't been on in a while so im not up to date with all the new spells and everything, my old setup doesn't seem to be workin as good as i remeber so i would like to change it but i don't know what to change it to. any suggestion??

your setup appears to be fine. Start with as few minions as you can. with a single minion, you have the options of mage, or tank... pick one, whichever u chooses is subject to opinion. Being that it is your character, your opinion is the one that matters. Just know, with a tank, you are capable of being stronger (in most cases) with effective use of high net worth. With a mage, you can stockpile money in order to go through with the tank option properly and effectively...

looks good to me!

would decay/AS mage be a good addition

Get rid of the ToE.

Get a fire familiar, steel familiar, halidon familiar (it's like a mini archer), just get something that does damage in ranged.

Make sure that protection isn't trained too high (low enough that you don't care if DM kills it).

Get a Helm of Clearsight, new supporter item so you can get it for a bargain price of 600-700k or $6 USD rather than paying a mil in auctions. Lets you shoot twice in round one.

Welcome back to CB :)

Change Protection for Evasion, or DM for Etheral Chains and everything would look fine to me.

Not having any defensive DX means that tanks will eventually do triple hits in the first rounds of melee (in the best of cases). So even you ToE and Prot won't help you.

That is why you need either EC or Evasion.

TheHatchetman January 26 2007 9:04 PM EST

With a single mage, Evasion is a valuable tool, as you can keep it at a decent level, and still have a higher DD spell than most others at your MPR. EC being used on a single minion team is just dumb... DM will help to knock out enemy AS meaning you can sometimes roast an entire team in the first round :)

wat about with 2 minion team

TheHatchetman February 1 2007 10:49 AM EST

with a 2-minion team, you open yourself to a bunch of possible helpful additions, but you also open yourself up to more XP dilution...

i really think in stats > items > overview for HoC should be changed to:

"Ability to attack an extra time in first round of ranged combat"

When i first read that, i thought it meant twice + the original one hit in round #1

how exactly does junction work

QBsutekh137 February 1 2007 3:54 PM EST

Is there a reason you did not create the new character as an NCB? Looks like you would be able to...

read the Wiki for Junction information. Basically, Junction needs to be trained at 20% of the level of a familiar, and then aspects of the Junction minion wearing the familiar will transfer. Big "aspects" include AGs, HoC, and AoI.

cause this char was still active so i decided to pick up where i left off, should i create new char?

MrC [DodgingTheEvilForgeFees] February 1 2007 8:29 PM EST

Of course.

TheHatchetman February 1 2007 8:35 PM EST

170% bonus added to your earned XP with no penalty to your money (although, it will cost you tons to buy BA). You could get back to where your character is now in about a week and a half :)

QBsutekh137 February 2 2007 1:46 PM EST

Jonathan should put an alert to returning users whose last login time was more than a few months -- tell them to be sure to start an NCB if they aren't going to buy BA. *smile*
