UC Combinatorics (in General)

AdminNightStrike January 27 2007 11:50 AM EST

Can somebody explain this to me?

Naked: 129,497
Aoi: 172,231
CG: 221,225
AoI + CG: 274,386

Those are UC scores. The AoI is +10 named, so it adds 33% to the skill level. 129,497 * 1.33 = 172,231. That's a difference of 42,734. Cool. That makes sense. A CG at this level bumps the score to 221,225 for a difference of 91,728. Now, when adding them both together, since the AoI and CG are supposed to only affect base UC, it should be 129497 + 42734 + 91728 = 263959 -- but it's not. What this says to me is that it seems like the CG adds it's +10 UC effect AFTER the AoI multiplies the base by 1.33. Is this really the case? It's the only way that I can figure out these things making sense.

First, I'm assuming you *meant* AoF.

And I believe it is the EVASION effect that the Gi only applies to trained UC.

So it would do the 33% added, then +10 standard from Gi, but the Gi's Evasion effect is only working on the original Naked: 129,497 amount - increasing Evasion to be equivalent to that in Ranged and 85.4k in Melee.

AdminNightStrike January 27 2007 11:54 AM EST

Ok, I was able to answer my own question. Yes, this is the case. First, UC is multiplied by Elven + AoF (btw, s/aoi/sof/g above). Then the C G and H G linear addition is applied. This makes those items extremely valuable.

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 27 2007 11:56 AM EST

interesting numbers but you do mean AoF right?

QBOddBird January 27 2007 11:56 AM EST

Right, %'s come first and static comes 2nd.

And the Evasion effect only applies to trained UC level.

AdminNightStrike January 27 2007 11:57 AM EST

I am far too unskilled to be able to verify the evasion level given the various combinatoric patterns. I'm fine with just saying that my evasion level is "a lot"

AdminNightStrike January 27 2007 11:58 AM EST

Incidentally... Unarmed Combat: 643,311/129,497 (55) :)

bartjan January 27 2007 12:00 PM EST

Combat Gi adds 10 to UC. The UC level gets adjusted to whatever figure is needed to match that 10 increase to UC's effect.

QBOddBird January 27 2007 12:01 PM EST

No, your Evasion is only equivalent to your pre-item bonus UC level during ranged with Gi and 2/3 of that during melee with Gi.

Looks like it is time to update the UC Wiki entry so that *EVERYONE* can understand exactly how it works.

AdminNightStrike January 27 2007 12:54 PM EST

OB, you just linked this thread to itself....

QBOddBird January 27 2007 1:05 PM EST

Where I had intended to link.

QBOddBird January 27 2007 1:06 PM EST

Something weird is going on.

The HTML I am putting in is changing when I hit Confirm to link to THIS thread....and each and every time I am pasting THIS link:

This is what you did:

<a href: "http://www.carnageblender.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001GZS"> Where I had <b> intended </b> to link. </a>

The href: should have been href= ...
Tip: for bonus points, leave the 'http://www.carnageblender.com' part out of the URL, so the link works the same for everyone, even those who not visit this site via www.carnageblender.com.

What I would like to try.

JKF junctioned with AoF and HG. :)

The AoF would increase the Jigs UC level, while not suffering from the increase to any EC faced, and the HG should also junction over to increase UC. :)

If only the HoC would work! (Or you could use a Gi as well!) ;)

QBOddBird January 27 2007 1:20 PM EST

Which of course would work best on a 4 minion team casting AS, Haste, GS, and AMF, with one minion holding the gears and the Junction for the Jig. xP

"If only the HoC would work! (Or you could use a Gi as well!) ;)"

How do u junction a Gi?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 27 2007 5:02 PM EST

Exactly. ;)

OB, that post was a long time ago. Does it still apply?

Vicious Cat January 29 2007 3:31 PM EST

No, No, No, NO people - this can't be happening again.
Last time, just as I decided to start an MM NCB there was a big thread about it.
Now, just because I was thinking about a junctioned JKF NCB, there's a thread all about it.
Now it's going to look like I'm just following trends, instead of actually thinking about what I am doing :-(
It's enough to make you think about starting a single FB mage I tells ya

QBJohnnywas January 29 2007 3:43 PM EST

VC, at least you didn't plan your NCB just as Jon introduced some of the biggest changes he had ever made while I've played CB; completely scuppered my plans for my last NCB halfway through it!

Oh well, that's life in CB for ya!

Vicious Cat January 29 2007 4:09 PM EST

Just as a matter of interest, if you were playing a single FB mage with a familiar, would PL negate the splashback on him? ;-)
