Idea for new players (the creatures, not the room) (in General)

Just occured to me... why not make a new player forum?

Granted, there is already a general forum, and off-topic, but why not make a new player one where new players can go to read up on how to start the game, get exposed to the forum atmosphere, and learn the rules and stuff.

Just a simple way where vets and mentors can give their mentees and other new players advice, even with those who can't always use chat.

Of course, a mention in the tutorial about visiting and using this forum would be fantastic. Just an idea!

All the information a new player needs is in the Wiki and/or reading the veterans posts in the current forums.

Is there really a need for another forum?

This forum is intimidating. It's completely filled with stuff they won't be able to possibly understand. I know the community doesn't want the pamper new players, but it makes it real hard on them, expecting them to figure ut -everything- on their own.

That's where new players chat comes in.
It fills the blanks left by the Wiki and current forums.

Sounds like a good idea. Completely unnecessary, given all the help new players currently get, but a good idea nonetheless.

There's two sides to this:

1) This idea would be great if they actually used the 'new player forum'. The problem you are seeking to solve is that new players often don't talk to their mentors, via either PM, Chat, or CM.

2) This idea is unnecessary due to the large amount of resources currently available to new players. They've got mentors, a Chat room dedicated to them, Goals to give them direction, a player-edited Wiki/Help so they may understand the game better, and a bonus to both cash and experience that, last I checked, was somewhere around ~180%.

*shrugs* I see no reason not to implement it, and no reason to implement it. Guess it'd be entirely up to Jon as to whether or not it would generate enough extra interest in the game to be worth spending the time implementing it.

Multiple reinforcements. And forums are easier then CM, and not everyone has a working chat.
