UC's 'Pre-item-bonus' Evasion. (in General)

QBOddBird February 3 2007 1:04 PM EST

As you can see via the explanation and link here, Unarmed Combat's inherent Evasion is pre-item-bonus; the question I'm posing here is whether or not that is simply the UC specific static items (Helm's Gauntlets and the Combat Gi) or if it is all skill-boosting (percentage-based) items. When I read pre-item bonus, I read that as a general statement covering all items offering UC a bonus - but that's simply how I read it.

So unless you are Jon, I'm not looking for opinions or facts without a linked basis: rather, I'm looking for anyone who can offer any sort of testing to find out. I'm willing to do this testing with my own UC character myself, as well, if anyone can come up with a good experiment to find out.

Thanks.

HG and Gi only. ;)

Based on....?

GL, can you verify that?

No, I can't think of any way of showing it. :(

But, I feel it's the way the items effect the skill differnetly.

+% Skill items effect trained XP (level) and should be considered natural increases. Gi and HG increase the effect directly and don't have any effect on the level itself. The level is just inflated here to make sense wiht the increase effect.

Right, and there are others who agree with you, and that does seem to make more sense - HOWEVER:

I can't rely on what 'seems to make the best sense' - I'm looking to find some way to test and find out for sure. ^_^

Calling out Jon doesn't usually get him to reveal the secrets of CB. Usually I have to post totally incorrect assumptions to tease Jon into posting to correct me. ;)

I did try thinking aobut any player based experiments that could be tried. What you might consider is facing an EC that is equal to your Dex, and see what your defensive dex looks like with a lot of +Dex items to without.

Defensive DX is invisible, though. How can I see what it looks like?

And I wasn't calling out Jon - I never expect him to answer my questions, he never has before and I don't expect him to - but rather pointing out that unless you are either (a) giving me proof or (b) the only person I consider to be a legitimate authority on the matter, all I'm looking for is some sort of testing suggestions/availability. =)

Because I'm not sure exactly what to do to test and find out if the inherent Evasion is affected by % items and not statics.

I think with a very careful combination of a weapon with a certain PTH and UC trained to a level based on the Evasion numbers that I am churning out, that it might be possible. Where's Duke when you need him? :)
