Finding Clans Should Be Easier (in General)

Ok. Here's the situation: You're clannless and looking for a clan. You know what clan you want to join, so you go look for it in the Standard list. You keep looking up and down the list for, lets say, the clan named "The Saligiare". After a few minutes of searching througha list, you get frustrated and think the clan was disbanded, only to find out later it's not, and by the time you look for it again, someone else has already joined and now it's too full for you. Now, my point is there should be a search bar, so you can look up a specific clan instead of rummaging throught the list over and over. Unless there is such a thing already, and I have just passed over it all this time, I think it would be a nice thing to have.

Try ctrl-f. And if they're not on the first page of clan listings, maybe you should reconsider joining them =p.
Nerevas, Gula is talking about on the join page.
It has been a long while since I joined this clan so I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure the only way you can join is by using the drop-down in the join page which has a lot of clans sorted first by membership policy and then by score which can sometimes be very difficult to find who you are looking for.
By all means keep them ordered by membership policy but maybe rather than using score for ordering each section, order the clans alphabetically?
Yes I agree. I have joined the wrong clan in the past :)

If you know the clan you're looking for then chances are you know at least one member of the clan.
I've not been "clanless" (clueless - yes) for a long time so correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just search by the user and then click on the clan link from there.

He's talking about joining a clan G Bee. You can't join from the clan page.
In the Clan -> Join, you have a drop down list for economic, and one for standard clans. Standards clans are sorted by Membership Policy (Open, Moderated, Full), and then by score (highest to lowest). It does make it difficult to find a clan (although you can go search the clan's score and membership policy). This is good for people who don't have a specific clan they want to join, but is difficult for people who want to join a specific clan.
I think adding a "Join this Clan" button on each clan's page is the easiest solution.
Either that or sort alphabetically after membership policy as I suggested, sorting differently doesn't add anything extra, just makes it easier to search :)

Both Kultur and Zoglog, very good ideas. I think both ideas would be a really good idea. And maybe make the clan a little more important in CB life might be a good idea, shake things up a bit more. ;)

I said "idea" a bit much. =/ Making the clans in Alphabetical order would probably be easier for Jon, and making a "Join this Clan" Button would make it easier for members. For the other thing I said about making clans a more important thing in CB life, well I'm not too sure how it could be improved, but I think it would be cool for the next changelog, however it should be improved.
I've had a few problems in the past with finding clans, and some of my members have had a tough time joining my clan too. This is a small change to CB, I know, but it would be a good change.
It is changemonth so you might be in luck :)
you can also type the first letter of the clan name while the drop down box is highlighted. A clan will come up, not the one you're looking for? hit the letter again. Like Nerevas said though, if you cant find them quickly that way, then you may want to reconsider joining them :P
it auto selects the last clan you viewed, so if you viewed say clan x, then when to clan- join clan - x would be auto selected as first in the list

Not many people know this... That might be a problem. I never heard of sucha thing myself.

"it auto selects the last clan you viewed, so if you viewed say clan x, then when to clan- join clan - x would be auto selected as first in the list"
Doesn't work for me, and I never heard of that either.

I like Kultur's proposal. I second that motion.
Notion, you mean. You can't really second a motion, can you? Unless you're copying their movements, I guess?

I was totally copying his movements.
But yes, the m and n keys are right there beside each other.

I second that emotion. You can indeed second a motion. Just google Robert's Rules.

Stay on topic please. Any other bright ideas regarding clans would be cool.
