No more clan-switching waiting period (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 11:51 AM EDT

That's the good news. :)

The bad news is that clan join fees are now $MPR / 10.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] March 29 2007 11:52 AM EDT

ouch

Brakke Bres [Ow man] March 29 2007 11:54 AM EDT

the join a clan and create a clan link both give a server error

Mikel [Bring it] March 29 2007 11:57 AM EDT

what about the waiting period for switching characters if you are already in a clan?

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 12:01 PM EDT

Henk: fixed

Mikel: that is unchanged for now

Unappreciated Misnomer March 29 2007 12:14 PM EDT

is this for both e clans and fighting?

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 12:16 PM EDT

isn't that clear on the Join page?

bartjan March 29 2007 12:18 PM EDT

Shouldn't this depend on the MPR of the highest character you have, including retired ones? Or else it's too easy to work around this fee...

AdminG Beee March 29 2007 12:21 PM EDT

If it includes retired ones (and it should) then it should only include within x period of days. Many people have old, but high, level characters that are genuinely retired.

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 12:26 PM EDT

"Shouldn't this depend on the MPR of the highest character you have, including retired ones?"

It goes by highest unretired character.

If someone really wants to bench his character 4 days instead of paying the money, I'm okay with that.

bartjan March 29 2007 12:48 PM EDT

Admins who do unretire a character for $50k outside this 4-9 day period should remember to check if the user didn't join a clan 5 minutes ago then ;)

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 12:50 PM EDT

why is that so common anyway? why do people need or want to temporarily retire?

bartjan March 29 2007 1:08 PM EDT

No idea. But occasionally people ask us to unretire a character for them. Usually a character that has been retired a long time ago, but that is not easy to verify for us.

AdminQBVerifex March 29 2007 2:58 PM EDT

Hey Jon, since you are changing Clan stuff, could you also do something about the fact that everyone under the top 10 people in clans can't successfully participate in clans.

As of right now, it is practically impossible to join a clan and stay in that clan with the current way the system is. To avoid re-posting this again and again, here is the problem Summary.

AdminNightStrike March 29 2007 3:31 PM EDT

"why is that so common anyway? why do people need or want to temporarily retire? "

Many reasons. Here's one example -- retiring your chars to get the cheap BA cost before starting an NCB, but unretiring because those chars are holding all of the equipment that you need.

Here's another -- to be able to transfer things like a tattoo without going broke. When I had 0 MPR, my RoE cost $9k to rent out. Now it's about $18k.

bartjan March 29 2007 3:38 PM EDT

Transfer costs (of items) does not depend on MPR.

TheHatchetman March 29 2007 9:47 PM EDT

is creating a clan suspended for the time being?

AdminJonathan March 29 2007 10:12 PM EDT

no

Mikel [Bring it] March 29 2007 10:22 PM EDT

Veri, don't you think the 6 ba rate might change this? Over a week that is quite a hefty number of clan points lost, not to mention, they buy less ba now as well.

AdminNightStrike March 29 2007 10:49 PM EDT

"Transfer costs (of items) does not depend on MPR. "

It sure seems to for tattoos... unless you can think of another reason why the cost to transfer a tattoo drops considerably once you retire all of your characters...?
