Chat Room (in Off-topic)

Any way to be in more then one at the same time? And if not, can someone figure out a way to do it -without- having to download some add on. Because I want to be in new players, but I also want to be in carnage. Decisions... decisions...

th00p April 5 2007 2:01 PM EDT

Someone figured it out with my help a while back but never told and I don't think you can talk in more than one at a time anyways.

AdminLamuness April 5 2007 2:05 PM EDT

Of course you can. For example, look at Frodbot. However, this is not possible if you use the standard CB chat blender. If you feel confident, you can either modify muon's chat client or create your own. Even though I too am working on a chat client, I am reluctant to modify this "feature", as Jon probably had a reason for not letting you do so in the first place.

bartjan April 5 2007 2:33 PM EDT

The chat protocol allows it, the default chat client doesn't. It's open source, so help yourself ;)

BootyGod April 5 2007 2:40 PM EDT

/me stares at bartjan's pic

Why doesn't the default client allow that?

bartjan April 5 2007 2:51 PM EDT

Because it confuses the default users?

BootyGod April 5 2007 2:57 PM EDT

Yeah, but the same people that get confused by that don't play CB for longer then 10 minutes...

bartjan April 5 2007 3:03 PM EDT

You'd be amazed.

Have you considered the UI challenges you get when trying to manage multiple chat rooms in a limited amount of space? In Java?

BootyGod April 5 2007 3:16 PM EDT

Yes. I find them completely manageable. And if -I- can do it there should be very few (if any) people alive who can't do the same...

But then again, I may not understand what you just said. Depends on what UI stands for =D

QBOddBird April 5 2007 5:15 PM EDT

User Interface...

BootyGod April 5 2007 5:25 PM EDT

Then I stand by original statement.

QBOddBird April 5 2007 5:29 PM EDT

"But then again, I may not understand what you just said."

Then that fully describes your response to his post. He's talking about the difficulties that would be involved in creating a Chat client that could show both rooms simultaneously within the limited amount of space offered, in Java. Not how easily you know how to manage two conversations at once.

BootyGod April 5 2007 5:31 PM EDT

Knew I wasn't understanding something. Thanks OB =D

AdminQBVerifex April 5 2007 6:58 PM EDT

It would be cool if it was a "tabbed" chat interface thing. But what do I know, I can't even go into chat here at work anymore (without installing this proxy port forwarding program for Java, but I told my boss I wouldn't do that.).
