Holey majoley! Koshcheck and Serra both won! Both unexpected, but both were feasible... Any thoughts on what fight will come next? Serra vs. Hughes? Koshcheck vs. Serra? Sanchez vs. St. Pierre? Hughes vs. St. Pierre III? Geez... I honestly wasn't expecting either of the winners to win, but which is more shocking, Serra over St. Pierre or Koshcheck over a very laxidasical Sanchez? Any thoughts?

Just got back from watching the fights. Was an unbelievable night! The upsets just kept coming. Great night to watch the UFC. =D

Diego was definitely a huge disappointment...

The most shocking was Serra over GSP. GSP was something like 1000 to 1. So you'd have to bet 1000 dollars to win 100 if he won that fight. He looked great at the beginning, but just couldn't take a punch, ended so quickly. Whole place I was at were out of their chairs when Serra put him down. Unbelievable.

KOS over Sanchez made more sense. He had the perfect fight strat and Diego couldn't do a thing. Sanchez just got outclassed, he looked horrible.

Koshcheck went back to his old standby... boring fight, squeaking out a win because neither fighter did anything... Kos never had Diego in trouble once, he took him down, got swept and gave up his back... lucky for him the bell rang...

Also, I don't know how long you've been watching MMA but Matt Serra was far from 1000 to 1... He was the first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt ever in America, and is one of the most technical ground fighters in MMA, in any weight class... Also, he hits hard, add that to the fact that he is shorter but the same weight, very compact... I sure didn't expect it to end with Serra by RD1 KO, but I never counted him out... I was a little upset that GSP lost but if he had to lose to anyone, I'm glad it was Serra... He has paid his dues and is a hell of a fighter... Can't wait for Hughes vs. Serra, if it happens... I was hoping to see that fight but GSP beat Hughes (which made me plenty happy!)... Congrats to Serra, Boo to Kos and Diego for a boring fight... But I expected no less from Koscheck.

Can't wait for Quinton Jackson vs Liddell rematch... Liddell fought him in Pride FC and actually tapped out because Quinton had MOUNT on him... Jackson wasn't even really hitting him, Chuck just gave up after being outclassed on his feet... Let's see if the old Quinton comes back for this fight...

And BOOOOO to UFC for buying Pride and moving the talent around... Noguiera is awesome, but the only people in UFC that have a shot against him are CroCop and Couture, and they are going to fight each other first...

Couture is my favorite fighter, so that fight has me anxious... CroCop is a killer. But if anyone can pick someone up and shut them down, it's Randy!

Also, that thing about Serra my have sounded a little condescending, didn't mean it to be... was just saying, don't forget how good he was back in the day!

I agree with your synopsis on the fighters. Just had a friend tell me the Vegas betting line, that's all. Will be interesting how the Pride merger works out, I'm not as familiar with it or the fighters there. Just got into the UFC action 2 years ago or so when a friend started working for xyience. You think the Pride fighters are better? I think it will shake a lot of standings up, but I also think that's going to be a good thing. More on the line, guys training harder than ever, better fights. We'll have to see.

Pride is/was in my opinion, and without question, the top MMA organization in the world, from talent to fan base to production values of their PPVs... To MMA fighters, UFC was a place to go that paid well until they got their shot in Pride... Most of UFC's big names of the past went to Pride FC and all of them said it was far better in every way... Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman, Jens Pulver, Bas Rutten, Royce Gracie, Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson, Heath Herring, Vitor Belfort and quite a few others, all went to Pride from UFC... And more than a few of them will retire or go to a lesser organization over going back to UFC...

Other than people who left UFC to go to Pride are many of the top fighters in the world...

Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko "CroCop" Filipovich, Antonio Noguiera, Kazushi Sakuraba, so many I'll be naming the for a while if I don't stop there... Pride > UFC in my mind, but you'll be seeing a lot more of their talent soon...

By the way, I love UFC, wasn't trying to downplay the skill... just pointing out that the fighters talent in Pride is generally higher than UFC even, compared to King of the Cage or other smaller MMA orgs... they even had Rickson Gracie fight for them a couple of times, before he retired... considered the best Jiu Jitsu technician in the world by most if not all... 300 - 0 in Jiu Jitsu and MMA competition... Insanity.
