My idea to take care of this ammo debacle (in General)

Fantasysage April 9 2007 10:15 PM EDT

Okay, heres my idea in full:

I think we need a new store here in CB, and it should be called the fletcher. NOT inexhaustible ammo in the sense that it will not auto add to your stack and subtract from your rewards, that is pushing it too far. What we will have is a new store, where you can go to buy base non rare ammo(arrows, bolts, and iron shots) of any amount you want (say in 500 count denominations or something) It will be pay per shot, and the store will never run out. We will keep the ammo cap in place so people don't go buy 2 billion ammo for giggles and laughs, but you could buy up to your limit at a time.

As far as rare ammo is concerned, it spawns right into auctions, i think part of the ability to use rare ammo is that it should cost more, and with the auctions the demand will dictate price, and will keep people from abusing ammo. I also think exp shots need to be made rare ammo, cause come on, it is clearly superior to most normal ammo.

This keeps people using normal ammo happy as we don't have to waste BA because we cant buy a darn BOLT when we need it, and it keeps rare ammo rare, and you are going to have to pay increasingly more to get the benefit of the better item, which is what the CB economy is all about.

I don't think I missed too much, go ahead, discuss, rip my idea apart (i know you will), do what you will, just be civil.

Well first off... Exp shot was rare ammo and Jon degraded it with the comming of the Sod so I don't think it will become rare again any time soon.

Also, give me a good reason why we need to split the weapon store into the Fletcher? If you buy enough ammo at a time and not wait till you run out, you won't have to worry about wasting BA.

The weapon store respawn is good enough to keep everyone stocked up if they buy wisely... but it would be nice if the stacks did come a little bigger than they are.

I've never had any problems buying arrows from the weapon shop. Admittedly I've had to buy a chunk of 400-500 size stacks at times, but I've yet to see the store run out of arrows when I needed them, and I generally buy them several times a day.

AFAIK the store refresh restocks the shop when a particularly type of ammo gets low/runs out.

How's about we make special ammo something that you can forge? Meaning, you can actually spend your BA forging new special ammo (base)... this would create more economy (fletchers) and/or people could trade their chance at EXP and money for their ammo of choice... Obviously it would have to be tested and all that to make it worthwhile, but not too worthwhile, but (if the coding wasn't ridiculously hard) would make for some fun and money making opportunities...

Another thought with that... the stores and auctions would have to stop spawning these types of ammo, and it would probably have to be a totally player based economy, which might add some fun... or drama, who knows...

why do you have to waste BA?
Store doesn't cost any BA and you should at least have some ammo to play a few BA until there is a refresh.
The other thing also is that once an ammo type gets low/runs out there is almost always a refresh practically immediately.
And with what is in my opinion a reasonably high ammo limit why not stock up each time there are a large number of stacks in there?
I for one don't merge due to the fact I have a large slightly upgraded stack of slayer bolts so all I do is use one of my other stacks of bolts/base slayers and after each one is used I recheck auctions and the store.

I wouldn't call the ammo limit "high" at all. When I hired my tank, I was using ~7-10k arrows a day. This is with particularly low DX, no ToA, and an ELB that was only ~1/4 of my WA. I'd Imagine a single ToA archer with a bow nearer to their WA would use about double that. My point, if you can't go a day without buying ammo, the limit isn't "high", but I'm not saying the limit is rediculously low either (though, I wouldn't mind seeing it upped).

Well if you're going to fight enough to use that much then you are on several times a day, many of which there will be plentiful of ammo bundles in the stores regardless of whether a fair few of them are only around 300 each.
Stocking up each time you visit means you get at least your daily usage if not more to set you off for the next day.

Maybe so, but I watched the LotR trilogy, and not once did I see Legolas stop by the store... :P

that's between scenes you see, you miss him go into 'Quivers R Us'.
Because obviously there is no way he can actually keep that inordinate amount of arrows on his person, it's almost like on The Matrix where they guy shoots between 8 and 10 shots from a single 6 bullet magazine lol
Both scenarios were flawed but to keep the movie running how it was supposed to, they had to let it go lol.
