I had to read the report and take a minute to compose myself... Vonnegut was an inspiration to me, and it makes me depressed to know that I'll never get to shake his hand...
RIP Kurt Vonnegut... I didn't know you but I loved you.
When the last living thing
has died on account of us,
how poetical it would be
if Earth could say,
in a voice floating up
perhaps
from the floor
of the Grand Canyon,
モIt is done.ヤ
People did not like it here.
Wow. I feel like I did when Johnny Cash died. :(
"Welcome To The Monkey House" was the first "grown-up book" I ever read, when I was like 9 or so. I didn't understand half of the stories until I reread it a few years later as a teenager, and by then I was trying to read any and all Vonnegut, Leiber, Lovecraft and Tolkien I could get my hands on...
"There's only one rule that I know of, babies - ........., you've got to be kind."
"Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt."
I've used Player Piano in more comparisons than any other work... the copy tha tI have is ancient and tattered, with notes written on every page....
a sad day indeed...
"I do believe that evolution is being controlled by some divine being. that's why we have giraffes and hippopotami, and the clap" --Kurt Vonnegut
