I've always thought that anything germane to NP is welcome in General, but if it encourages actual new players more to have their own forum, great. So I'm giving the NP forum a try, and adding a NP "goal" to introduce themselves there.
If it doesn't work out I'll just fold it back into General.

well what if this new player forum had key posts that never closed but were cleaned up by admins(reduce the garbage), so that new players and ask questions relevant each of the threads, i guess its more of a resource, it strikes me as between a general thread and laziness not wanting to read the wiki

Wiki needs search that works, that is no secret.
Very nice, indeed!
If it doesn't work out, I had another idea to amplify it...
Basically, have the system automatically post messages for people, then send them a CM with a link to the message. Maybe when certain milestones are hit that not every new user gets to. For instance, when a new player hits X MPR, post an automatic congratulatory thread.
This idea could probably be fleshed out better. I'm coming from the standpoint of forcing the post to be there, which would encourage the communication. It would have to be a milestone that isn't as common as starting a new account, however, as that would just spam up the forum and defeat the purpose of people introducing themselves of their on volition.
Searching this forum (and all forums) seems to be broken.
This thread is closed to new posts.
However, you are welcome to reference it
