Character Transfer Suggestion (in General)

I would like to see something put in place similar to escrow so that a character purchase and subsequent transfer does not have any risk involved.

When a "deal" is made via FS/WTB and even later made public knowledge via Public Record, there is still no recourse for a seller or buyer for that matter if the deal goes south and one side ends up defaulting on the deal.

First of all let me clarify, I am _not_ talking about USD sales. Only CB2 deals within the game. For example I would like to see a temporary character transfer where the seller puts in the price and player to transfer to, they agree, the money and character are then transfered and both parties benefit. I know this is quite similar or even exact to the function of the auction system, so maybe the best way to incorporate this is to add character sales to auctions.

What does everyone else think?

Aside from the fact Jon barely tolerates char sales as it is, I think it's a lot of work for minimal payoff. Maybe if someday we get a different store setup it could work.

It would be easier to stop all char transfers unless carried out by an admin. Mightn't be as fast and flexible as the system we currently have but it would certainly be secure and need little work from Jon to implement.

GB, that is what admins used to do, at least back in CB1. Jon implemented the current character transfer system to reduce their workload, and also to reduce the database clutter (or something along those lines, bart or jon could give better details).
