Well, a few days old.

What a great game.

I can see hours of my life just wasting away now, yippee.

Mercurian --

What would motivate you to stay and be a dedicated player here?

Mercurian April 30 2007 8:01 PM EDT

Thanks for the responses guys.

Interesting question, what would motivate me to stay......

At the moment, its all new so the motivation is there.

Later on, I guess.....

In the opponents window the list is populated with additional info like, number of members and win % instead of having to inspect everytime.

Possibly individual weapon skills or weapons skill groups so tanks can't just equip a new weapon. Lets face it, would Druss have been such a legend if his axe broke and he had to pick up a scimitar.

Quest NPC groups that are rock but when defeated drop special items. You could than "battle" your way through defences (individual fights) which would really test skill sets.

There may be more but its late and I am tired.

"Possibly individual weapon skills or weapons skill groups so tanks can't just equip a new weapon."

Now there's a suggestion I've never seen before! Interesting idea.. We have to train Archery for bows... perhaps training Weapon Proficiencies (sorry, I play D&D :) ) for weapon types... swords, hammers, etc.

I think the idea has merit and is worth fleshing out further. There are obvious obstacles (like where bloodlust fits in), but that's what open discussion is for.

welcome to the world of CB my friend
yeah every 3 or 4 months is a changmonth where jon makes small and sometimes big big changes to the game when that comes around there will be alot of post with ideas so fill free (even before then) to make post/comments about the games and ideas

Although if this was put in use how would the exp sharing go towards each weapon? would there be a entire new catagory to train weapon abilities? how many weapon's can you train all up?is it a one time train or do you have to keep it at a certain level of your strength?

Overall its a good idea but I'm not sure how it would work out.

Welcome to CB2 Mercurian, keep up the good ideas.

muon [The Winds Of Fate] May 1 2007 1:20 AM EDT

The idea has merit.

But, each weapon class skill would have to be trainable at a different rate, so Hammers and Longswords would take say 12 xp per point, compared to Daggers at 1 xp per point, otherwise it would be a useless modification.

However, even with that, I just don't see people training Dagger/Short Blade skills if they _know_ that even sinking 6 mil NW in a dagger is only going to end up with you owning a shiny toothpick.

The interface ideas I like a lot.
Some additional information (number of minions, win%) would definitely be useful when building up fightlists quickly instead of inspecting. More to the point, it would benefit players without supportership, making fighting more profitable and more fun.

Nice ideas, mercurian. I hope you enjoy your time in CB :-)

What you could do is take the BL skill and make it weapon-type specific... sword, hammer, axe, etc. Put the big 5 weapons in separate categories. Or maybe 2 and 3.

Give each skill type a different effect per level.

hmmm

Here's another idea....

Radical change to the game....

Make all PTH skill based :) :)

Mercurian May 1 2007 4:58 AM EDT

Looks like I have started something.

Bloodlust stays the same as this is more like frenzy.
Weapon groups could be
short blade (dex modifies)
long blade (strength & dex modifies)
crushing (strength modifies)

On another note, why doesn't intelligence affect spells. IT should have some modifier to spell casting in my opinion.

Another one, unlearning is too easy. I appreciate the need to change characters but why can't there be a penalty imposed the more you do it. Say it remains the same the first time (98% back) but then you could reduce the returned xp by say 10% per unlearn so it would be 98/89/80/72/65/58/52 etc.

Add other personal skills like fletching (make your own arrows), smithing (forging can be trained and you can automatically forge lower level items depending on skill by just assigning BA to the task)

Another thought. Give weapons a durability so they need repairing every so often or they stand the chance of breaking. Once broken they can be repaired but the effect of the weapon will be reduced

You've got me started now.

Flamey May 1 2007 5:15 AM EDT

no, it's good, keep them coming.

"Another thought. Give weapons a durability so they need repairing every so often or they stand the chance of breaking. Once broken they can be repaired but the effect of the weapon will be reduced"

This would just impose more of a sink for a tank, which I don't think is needed, its basically how the Tank needs to buy arrows.

"Add other personal skills like fletching (make your own arrows), smithing (forging can be trained and you can automatically forge lower level items depending on skill by just assigning BA to the task) "

Fletching wouldn't work with the CB mechanics, arrows are already cheap, pretty dirt cheap, you don't need to be a millionaire to afford them. Literally a few battles will pay for a stack or two of arrows. So Fletching would just be a waste of BA. Also suggesting that we add more types of arrows and let them be more expensive is just like upgrading the damage on the arrows.

Sorry, I'm not coming off as flaming or anything.

P.S. you play too much Runescape. :)
