BA cost (in General)

Popsicle Man Supreme May 4 2007 6:53 AM EDT

has anyone else noticed that the BA cost hasn't been increasing my cost has stayed at 1533 for a few days now.

Talion May 4 2007 10:12 AM EDT

Mine has been increasing... I think. It costs $300 more per BA than the last time I looked, which was just after the new BA rewards system was put into place.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 10:25 AM EDT

Mine jumped from 300 ish to 667 after the change. Normally it should have doubled the cost, and that is exacly what happened, save for a couple CB$. BUT, since the change, I must have climbed my char at least 50k-75k mpr more, and my BA cost is still 667. Is that what you meant, Popsicle Man Supreme?

Flamey May 4 2007 10:28 AM EDT

Mine's moved, since the change it was 801 I think, now its 821.

QBsutekh137 May 4 2007 10:31 AM EDT

BA cost does not increase a lot between the 10, 9, 6, 7, 6 BA accrual change steps. That's why having a huge MPR does not make forging that much more efficient (at least not as much as people initially thought, I think.) Forging "power" is directly related to cost per BA.

From the thread "Forging and MPR" a couple weeks back:

I played around with some data attempting to factor in regeneration rate and arrived at the following:

BA Cost * Regen Rate = 274.6*(MPR^0.169)
Or
BA Cost = (274.6*(MPR^0.169))/Regen Rate

On non-data set tests it appears to be within 1 CB on the BA cost.

Please test away folks!

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 10:42 AM EDT

Okay. Me+math=0. Though that equation was correct...

Anyways, then do you mean that the fact that my BA cost has not increased from 680k mpr to 770k mpr is normal? That is all I found strange really.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 10:43 AM EDT

And when I mean not increased, that means not a single CB$ more.

QBsutekh137 May 4 2007 12:43 PM EDT

It might seem strange, but I believe it. You won't see a jump until you kick down to the next BA accrual level.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 12:45 PM EDT

I'll take your word for it then :)

SundariZelia [The Knighthood] May 4 2007 12:59 PM EDT

That seems to be about right, I noticed a big jump in cost when I went from 9/20 to 8/20 but since then I don't think it's gone up by more then a few CB$, if even that.

Machiavelli amends:
The above formula is based on a 10 min regen rate, you'll probably have to multiply the BA cost by 2 or divide the regen rate by 2 (not both!) to get the new numbers.

Lochnivar May 4 2007 4:12 PM EDT

Curse you PMS!

It appears the change in regen rate may have diminished the formula I had previously derived.
If I could have a variety of people post (or CM if you're secretive) their MPR (fully trained) and BA cost as well as regen rate I'll take another crack at it.

Thanks for your help~!

SundariZelia [The Knighthood] May 4 2007 4:48 PM EDT

MPR 438,850 (I have 11 exp, that won't matter will it?) BA cost 1489 8/20 refresh

QBsutekh137 May 4 2007 4:50 PM EDT

MPR: 2,537,582
BA Cost: $1094
Accrual: 6/10
No Bonus.

(Bonus characters would need to post their percentage bonus, otherwise numbers will be off).

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 4:52 PM EDT

Mpr: 775,581
BA cost: 667, and I am at 8/20 presently

I don't have a bonus either, unfortunately :)

Popsicle Man Supreme May 4 2007 5:47 PM EDT

yeah thats exactly whats happening Ashilizator cost isnt increasing when my MPR is going up

QBJohnnywas May 4 2007 5:49 PM EDT

Funnily enough my BA costs have been at 1533 since the change. That's with a 90k MPR increase as well.....

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 4 2007 5:52 PM EDT

It's not that I have a problem with cheap BA..... :P

Even though it may be normal, I'm feeling like I cheat right now, heh.

Mikel [Bring it] May 4 2007 6:05 PM EDT

I haven't noticed it, but in a way it seems fair since we aren't getting all of our ba. I got just 1 the other day on my 20 minute interval instead of 6.

Yukk May 4 2007 7:29 PM EDT

MPR: 1,437,092
BA Cost: 860
Rate 7/20

Flamey May 4 2007 7:37 PM EDT

MPR: 1,077,961
Cost: $821
Rate: 7/20

No bonus.

I find that strange 400k MPR higher than me is only $39 more. Is that right?

muon [The Winds Of Fate] May 4 2007 11:53 PM EDT

MPR = 1,121,974

Same refresh and BA cost as flamey.
Looks like the BA costs are stepped... that's strange.

Lochnivar May 5 2007 3:00 AM EDT

Grr, Jon's changes to regeneration have complicated the MPR:BA cost relationship it seems.

A few more data samples would be appreciated.

Thanks to those who have helped so far.

142% bonus

Lochnivar May 7 2007 4:28 AM EDT

Well here is my revised formula please test it out

BA Cost = 997.1*(M39^0.126)/Regen Rate

Oh, and it would be best if different data samples were used than the ones posted in the forums.

As an interesting note the NUB's appear to get a 'bonus' whereby BA cost is only 132% higher while rewards are 142% higher.

Lochnivar May 7 2007 12:39 PM EDT

Correction:
The formula should read:
BA Cost = 997.1*(MPR^0.126)/Regen Rate

I'd like to see how this holds up to some tests.
