If you could make a video game... (in Off-topic)

what would you make?

I'd make a mech game (like Heavy Gear or MechWarrior) where you can build your own mech army to take out into the field piece by piece. Even do crazy things like have your core components in your legs (so body shots won't take you out, just make you... hurt? :D), put weapons on your feet (foot shot!), and things like that.

You'd never know what to expect. You approach an enemy, thinking "He has a weapon on his left arm, so I should probably try and take that out first. But what if he has a more powerful weapon that I can't see? Maybe I should take out his legs so he can't move. But what if he has a back-up set of treads attached to his body?" and then you start freaking out because you don't know what to attack!

Yeah. That's my terrible idea for the day!

I'd make the best MUD ever... I really shouldn't get into it right now, because I've been up 60+ hours and I'm insanely manic... It will be long and ramble-riffic if I explain it... but just trust me... it would be the best...

P.S. MUD = Multi-User-Dimension (Online Multi-player Text-Based Role-Playing game... - )

Hmm, I'd like to see a heavily strategic RPG. It would have an epic and tragic plot. I suppose it would be similar to FFT. You could assemble a team of up to say ten at a time to fight on a grid map against the enemy. You would have story line characters, as well as generics that you could find and hire with different races. You could then train them in two out of the dozens of possible jobs. Masters of a job would receive a title and a special ability (or extra stats). Every spell and ability would become more powerful as it was used. You could capture, train, and raise powerful monsters. Unused characters could be sent out to work to slowly gain you cash and small amounts of experience. Monsters could be entered in battle arenas as well as cross-bred to create hybrids.

Strategy and formation would be vital. There would be tons to do... and it would be awesome.

Well you are going to steal this idea and make millions but what the heck. I would make a game called mime assassin. You would put your own pic into the game and then you would go around New Yahoo City killing mimes and losing pionts when you accidentally kill clowns and others. If someone sees you the cops would hunt you too .I'd go into more detail but why ,since you are stealing it already!

Does anybody remember Metagaming Microgames? I'd try to obtain the licensing and then re-release them as video games -

Rivets - battle strategy with cute but deadly little mechs called BOPPERS...
Chitin I - Intelligent insects in epic battles over food, which includes the bodies of the enemy!
Dimension Demons
Lords of The Underearth
Godsfire
Holy War
Ice War
Hot Spot
Olympica
Invasion of the Air Eaters
Sticks and Stones
O.G.R.E.
Trailblazer
Ram Speed
Warpwar

Just to name a few. Maybe release them as packages - 4-6 titles on one release...

Oh, and I didn't list Melee or Wizard, because who needs those when we have CB? ;)

Then I woke up... :)

If I actually had any programming skills, and that would rock, I'd make one of these old-school 2d RPGs that I like so much. Only it would not have any story and instead be a huge, realistic world a bit reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls games...

Seriously, I'm a real mine of creativity, and I am sure good ideas are not what I'm lacking. Now, If I could receive the gift of Extraordinary Programming Skills overnight...I'd have fun with that :)

If I had the talent, I'd take the source from the old Mirage Universe RPG that I loved so much and I'd bring that game back. Hackers brought down the game I once loved, and I'd make it hacker-proof.

GASP. I just checked MirageSource.com (because the source was released free to the public when the hacker brought it down) and it's under new ownership. Maybe someone will now re-release Mirage?

The best game out there is called Real Life.

Just think about it. What if you could make a copy of real life, with all the rules of real life like gravity and the police and death and everything. Only when you die, you can still spectate or start over. Of course you'd be able to be anything and anyone, and you should be able to fast forward time.

I'd just like to be me, and see what happens if I try to start a new career. Or see what happens when I steal a car and start a car chase.. hmmm, maybe I should try to be Bruce Willis or Michael Schumacher or.. wow the possibilities are endless!

I'm with Vaynard.

I had thought last summer about a game like real life.

The main problem with it is that it would be too complicated, too big, too boring, etc. :(

If I could make a video game, I would take the best minds at Blizzard Entertainment, and the best minds at Valve Software and develop a really great mixture game of FPS and RTS, just like this: Savage, except with all the finesse and polish that only those companies can deliver.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 22 2007 11:07 AM EDT

Savage+Blizzard+Valve=drool.

QBOddBird May 22 2007 11:08 AM EDT

Speaking of which, this thread reminded me of Mirage and I decided to look and see if anyone had revived it...and there's been quite a few little Mirage offshoots! I've only gotten one to play right....great community there though.

A slash and hack for the 360, not one out yet, Oblivion takes ages to find anything to kill, not like the herds of ogres which takes 30 minutes to slash through, hehe

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] May 22 2007 1:03 PM EDT

Drool is a horrible name for a game.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 22 2007 1:17 PM EDT

Hehe, yes, it probably is XD

Brakke Bres [Ow man] May 22 2007 1:23 PM EDT

I rather wanna combine a few genres in one game if its possible.
RPG, RTS and a FPS.

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] May 22 2007 6:20 PM EDT

Speaking in a related pastime though how about a little flash game called Spitoon ? It would be a first person shooter type game . The sound effects would be the most important part !!!

BootyGod May 22 2007 6:38 PM EDT

For Wii.

Basically, I want to see a game that mimics medieval combat. Pick your weapon, then really use it. More accurately, I would like a virtual reality game that simulates it. Forget difficulty and all that stuff. Keep it realistic as you can, while still making the game fun. If you did it Wii, weighted controllers would be cool, to get a more realistic feel.

Now, I'm not talking simulator. But I think, it would be fun to try my hand at that.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] May 23 2007 12:20 AM EDT

I definitely would make a fast-paced action game, a kinda hybrid between Shinobi for the PS2 and Ninja Gaiden for the XBOX, except with maybe a pirate or superhero motif instead of ninjas.
