<Jonathan> Tournaments will be back, only there will be separate tournament BA this time.
Wow, you're quick on that post button.
Look for it this coming changemonth. Probably at least 2 weeks, but before the end of the month for sure.

Excellent news :) There going to be a tournment admin again?
Hmmm.. This sounds pretty cool. I have no idea how tournaments work so could someone explain to me, or show me where to find some info on them? Thanks.
The cool thing is that tournaments will finally be back. I've been waiting for almost 2 1/2 years for this. YAY!!!
The timing may mean that I'll be away from a computer during the whole first tourney, though, but that's a small price for me to pay to see them return.

basically, they run for a short period of time say 1 week or 2.
You start a character fresh and I'm pretty sure there were certain requirements and/or exemptions you had to abide by. Say you have to have AMF on your team or you can't use AS. You can't transfer anything to or from these characters either.
I'm not sure, but I think it was whoever had the most MPR and/or Score?
That's roughly how it went, I was never around, but that's what I've picked up.
Were there pots or such? If we can't xfer items, how are tanks suppose to work?
The pot was usually made up of items and cash confiscated from banned players, you could purchase things with the tourny characters, but you would be unable to transfer items or money to them from another character.

Use a katana or a THF!
The standard tourney goal was highest score at the end of a week. Players had the choice of using their BA during a week for either their tourney character or their regular characters. Highest pr was another standard goal.
Special tourneys were introduced with specific theme goals. In the David vs Goliath single minion tourney, for example, Goliath could only fight with melee weapons, and David had to use a sling. There was a tourney where all the minions (and the character) had to have their names taken from the world of Disney. I couldn't play that week, or my retired characters would have included a Tinkerwoogie. :-)
Limited BA tournaments were later introduced, giving players with a limited amount of time to compete in tournaments. A limited BA tournament goal might be highest score after 5,000 BA challenged or highest PR after 500 BA challenged.

Dont forget the ones where you had to kill a certain character first, I liked those every so often too.
We had a Medusa tourney where you had the entire tourney to build your character, then got one shot to kill Medusa. The first person to kill Medusa won the main prize, and other players who could also kill Medusa were eligible for secondary prizes.
If you drew or lost to Medusa, however, you were turned to stone, and you weren't allowed to transfer anything from that character.
Then there was the Lord of the Rings hobbit tourney....

Yeah the LoTR tournies were crazy, remember geting so much booty from them too...
My favorite and in terms of most fun to be had imo is ones where youre only allowed to fight other tournament teams. Was like a mini-week long CB everytime they were run.
It will be interesting to see how well us 2 old time vets do against the new breed.
Separate tourney BA is nearly the greatest thing I've ever heard of...
Hardcore players will once again have something to do!
So does that mean... I can forge AND fight at the same time?! Dood... If so, that's awesome.

All-RIGHT. Can't wait for this...thank you so much, Jonathan! =) This'll be super-spectacular!
Awesome. I have heard that tournaments were awesome, and I really want to try my hand :-)
Nice work, Jon.

That is great news!
Some of my most memorable CB times were from Tournies.
:)
Wow! This is so great news! Thank you Jon :)))
Is that a beard W.E.?
Thanks for all the info everyone.
Flamey, you were allowed to transfer items from a tourney character to a non-tourney character whenever you wanted (as long as it was before it was auto-retired).
I doubt it'll be allowed now that there will be separate tourney BA though.
This sounds like its going to be a lot of fun :D
Whaaat?!
I was not around when the last tournaments were held...
So...wow! That rocks!

Yay? Lol.
Anything that makes these people so happy must be great. I'm looking forward to it.
Sweet! I'd love to see them around again! =D

Since I'm sick of arguing about it in chat, one of you Tourney conscious people needs to go to the T section of glossary in help and talk about it a bit ;)
And while you're at it, edit the Top Ten exemption rule, because it does not work like that anymore.

Yes! I got an email regarding this. I've been away for at least a year, maybe more. Today is my first log in. Tournaments were always my favorite in CB1. I'm sure they'll be great here too.
Now I just have to figure out all of these changes. I sure my strategies are useless now. Ah well....
We will have to declare this week ''Comeback Week'' from now on.
Welcome back, Gigan. I also e-mailed Victim and Valgasu, although Valgasu's e-mail bounced back to me. It's time to track down Nainsidhe and a few others. :-)
We need to track down Beren and Snugglebunny, the best tournament admins ever :)
This could be very fun :) I'm looking forward to it, and if you need some guinea pigs to test the separate BA thing, let me know.
