(Mentee) Having trouble verifying e-mail address (in General)

My Mentee (Nihilist) is having trouble verifying his/her email, the following CMs went by:

/mail Nihilist: well if you've already tried that. Does not having your email verified not let you post on forums? If so, I can post on the forums to find out for you. It's been a while since I first joined. :)

"And yes, I've checked that the address is correct and the mail isn't in my spambox." Are they using hotmail, because hotmail is very reliant for some reason. Tell them to make a Yahoo account or gmail or something. Hotmail takes hours to receive a email.
