My Thoughts on New Players Forum (in General)

I just want to make a point. When a person joins a game, it is always good to see friendly people, but if the userbase is really small they can be detracted (right word?) from the game.

When a new player joins, one of their goals is to introduce themselves. Now, if you were a new player, you post, this is mainly all you know of the forums, you see 3 people post in your thread. You're probably thinking, "what do 10 people play this game?" which could put you off.

So, maybe just posting "hey" on a new player's introduction thread will make them see the community is larger *and* friendlier than it seems.

So do them a favour, say "hi" on their thread. :)

You raise a good point Flamey.

Perhaps changing the goal of the NP would also help. Jon could start a post in NP forum with a welcome message on it. NP joining would be tasked to find that post and reply with a personal "hi". It would cut down on the number of posts and also show a very high number of replies and contributions after a while.

Sure it may end up that the post is never off the active threads list but we generally have two or three NP posts there anyway.

Just a point i thought I'd make, When the new players make this thread, do you think they look at it again? As they might be trying the game out not knowing much and just think its dull and not bother playing again, so they dont know how close our community is and how friendly(well most of the time.) Anyone think another goal later on down there list would be good? To be look at the thread they made via searching for there name and clicking on threads they have made. This will then make them feel more welcomed, i know thats the point in the whole thread but if they don't look at what they've done they don't know that. Dunno if this is a pointless idea, but this is my first as i don't have much convidence saying my thoughts.

Actually, a ''Go check you post in X time'' goal is not a bad idea...Though not much newbs will stay around to actually go check the responses to their thread anyways. But those who quit that fast...are gone already.

So I guess nothing could go against what you propose.

"do you think they look at it again?"

They get an email alert on replies :)

Idea: Create a questionnaire and make the post be answers to the questions.

Forgot about that NS! yeah i thought my idea was not very good hehe.

Actually NS the questionnaire idea is *brilliant*
I'd even consider replying to a few :-)
