How Many Forgers Buy BA? (in General)

just wondering

Unless it is to finish out a cycle before bed I usually don't. And even then, I wouldn't usually do it if I was doing a forge job for someone else, only when I am forging my own gear.

It's only beneficial if you forge your own gear, though not much. Especially wasteful when you forge for someone for less than 70% NW diff.

Not profitable at 70% to buy BA. 1 item becomes "profitable" (basically breaking even) at 75%.

I don't and i think it is very pointless. Think of it this way if I bought BA then instead of 70% of NW it would be decreasing the amount of money i would get for the item plus on long forge jobs will a few extra cycles really help when you could spend a few hours sleeping and do the same amount for no money it would increase the time taken but increase the money turnout in the end.

Hope that answered your question I thought I'd add my two cents.

i think forgers should increase the price just so they can buy BA... the faster a job is completed the faster they can move on to the next job...

At 75%, you break even. I charged that so I could buy BA occasionally, which sped the job up infinitely. I think it is worthwhile, honestly.

How do you guys figure that buying ba breaks even at 75%?

My ba costs 701 each. Each BA on my mageseeker (one of the better items to forge) gives me around 706 increase in nw. Therefore, per ba, I would only make 529 if I was forging for someone else at 75%. Which means, I would be losing $172 per ba. And that is before taking the forge fees into consideration.

Am I missing something here?

QBOddBird June 13 2007 11:14 PM EDT

Note: My figures were based on pre-BA change. =) But at that point, it paid for my BA almost even, and all I lost out on was forge fees. Ask Ranger, as it was he that tested it with me. ^_^

According to my data, buying BA only breaks even with 1 item. The second best item only becomes profitable at 82%. And it just goes higher from there.

I define profitable as being:
NW Increase - Forge Fees - BA Buying <= Forging Income

And that item is...the BoNE! xD
