I’d like to thank the innocent victims of September 11th. I’d like to thank them for giving me a brief glimpse of what this country is capable of doing when we remember who we are and what we stand for.

In the moment a group of monsters reached their goal of terrorizing the United States of America they stopped all arguing. They ended political differences inside our shores. They solidified our resolve and reminded everybody what we stand for. Patriotism swelled in our hearts. True concern and generosity could be seen all over. The moments after the planes crashed were priceless. Instantaneously terror was replaced with purpose. We had to do something-anything.

Some prayed and wept. Some ran for help. Some ran to help. Others collected necessary items. Many donated time, money, goods, labor, lives. Almost everybody wanted to help fix the problems. In those moments we felt united. We were Americans. We stood for freedom. We stood for justice.

The “sleeping giant” awoke with the sounds of exploding planes and crying innocents.

The lives lost were precious and each is most deserving of reverent memorial. I say they did not die in vain, though. Their lives rekindled, if only briefly, the spirit of our beloved country. For that moment, that glimpse of true heroism and devotion, I thank those who lost their lives. They gave us back heroes.

Alas, the glimpse was just that. A brief sighting of what we are supposed to be. Today, while we still have many brave and devoted guardians of our way of life, we are mired in the muck of political bickering. Many have returned to inaction for fear of offending somebody’s sense of political correctness. The news is filled with frivolous stories and politicians jockeying for office. Each day people slip into lackadaisical comfort and forget the sacrifices of our ancestors.

If those responsible for the attacks against the United States of America really wanted to destroy us, they would have left us alone. It seems the longer we go with out a threat to our sovereignty or a direct attack on our way of life the more willing we are to let it go. We grow lazy and fill our minds with inconsequential fluff. As long as the terrorists stay away it seems we are more willing to forget that they are out there. We stop trying to represent our Constitution. We stay our hand for fear of offending or intruding on somebody else’s way of life. Political correctness is used everyday to blur the lines drawn by our forefathers.

Just as any tradesman will tell you that tools must be cared for constantly even when not in use, our country and the values of the Constitution need constant exercise to keep them fresh and functional. A sword left untouched will rust and lose its edge. A healing balm not kept fresh will sour and go rancid. Idle hands and minds are easily influenced and distracted.

If you oppose the way of life I hold dear and cannot bear the fact that I believe we should be free under the guidance of the Constitution of the United States of America, then don’t do anything. Stand idly by while the media, politicians and activists pick apart the foundation of this dear country and watch it crumble as they go. That is all you have to do. Nothing. Just wait while we tear it all apart ourselves.

Be warned though. If, you oppose the way of life I hold dear and choose to attack me for it, be warned. The giant can still be awakened.

Amen! =)

Political correctness is certainly going to be the end of us. When did people start thinking that life was fair and everyone should treat them so?

Great little speech. It just makes me sad though, as it points out the futility of everything. :(

One solution to many problems that we face, is to have a single leader who is capable of setting forth a rigorous public policy for our country that addresses all the important issues of our day and age.

That leader needs to be compassionate, incredibly smart, have a mesmerizing demeanor, be independently wealthy and have a politically sanitized life and previous career.

Uh...the biggest threat to our constitution is a half-witted dumbo-eared monkey boy and his toadies, not political correctness. And it was when the threat of terrorism was greatest, or at least freshest in our memories, that the monkey boy was given free reign to do what monkeys do - fling poo at the world and generally disregard the principles on which the country was founded (well maybe most monkeys don't do that second one but our monkey boy has SPECIAL POWERS!)

LOL NSFY, you know a couple years ago, I had the idea of creating a "TODO List" site just for reference, that would list all the things that the next president would have to do in order to un-muck up this presidents retardatronic policy decisions. I decided against it though as there seem to be already too many sites that do something along those lines.

Amen NSFY

That was a funny little exchange of ideas... Verifex, you spelled out quite correctly how the media conglomerates tend to work. What I find funny is that NSFY then followed up with the standard unimaginative notion that our president is incompetent and akin to a monkey. Guess where all those ideas came from?

Observation.

Nightstrike, I like how you put that.

Danke :)

"Guess where all those ideas came from? "

Who the hell are you talking about? Your president can barely speak English, the media didnt just invent that.

A lot of people bash him, but he DID get elected by the Electoral College and by popular vote. If anyone can be blamed it is ourselves. Also, one man does not run our country. The country truly is run by the house and the senate. All of which imo (with an occasional exception) are rich disconnected extremists only concerned with issues when the media is favoring that issue.

I also find it ironic that so many congressmen and senators have bashed Bush after the fact, when they voted vehemently in favor of the war in iraq to begin with.

Politics in the US has become and becoming more so each day a joke. Most of what the media chooses to report on has little to do with the average person in the US, and politics has become a strictly propaganda arena won by money, and popularity. Kind of like high school all over again, just more money, more corruption, and less restraint. At least teenagers occasionally have parents to kick their butt. Politicians is anything goes.

AdminQBVerifex June 24 2007 11:36 PM EDT

The comparison of high-school to government isn't accurate at all.

Unless of course the students were allowed to set the agenda that was taught in school, and were allowed to work as little or as much as they want on their studies. I wish that someone would enact legislation to force senators and representatives to work much more then they currently do.

It seems like every day we hear about how little those congress critters work. I bet if they were required to take their jobs more seriously then they would actually get some meaningful stuff done.
