NCB Strat (in General)

Vicious Cat June 14 2007 7:56 AM EDT

I'm starting an NCB in a couple of days. Normally I'd be buzzing with ideas at this stage and planning stat ratios and stuff, but this time I'm at a loss.
I've got a lowish Morg that I had some vague notion of using (maybe in a Tank & PL Batt 2 Min team), but that would take money that I haven't really got.
I've never gone SFBM, so that maybe worth seeing - I don't really know.
Anyone got any ideas of reasonably unusual strats for me to play with?

On a related note - would there be much of an interest in paying me for growing an NCB character for someone? You choose the General strat and I'll run it for the 4 months and we can agree terms of payment per MPR reached at the end or something? (I've got a RoE, and will fight a reasonable amount, but I make no promises)
Apologies for sounding as if I haven't really thought this out, but - anyone interested?

Let's wait for Flamey to weigh in.

What do you want to do with your NCB? I started an NCB last summer (The Clash) with a low level Morg and finished the NCB with a named x1400 Morg (London Calling - it's still out there somewhere). Ok, I didn't buy BA very often and the char only reached about 700k MPR. But you can make enough money to build a very decent weapon..

Alternatively go mage for a while and save money; at the end of it if you want to start a new team you've a nice little bankroll....

Now, strat talk....can you believe I have nothing to say?!?!?

SFBM works.

You can try a 2 minion team that has a MM mage with evasion accompanied by an enchanter training AMF/DM and AS holding a FF/SF.

I don't think doing an NCB for someone works out, because someone can just buy a high MPR character for dirt cheap, and it wouldn't be worthwhile if you had a low enough rate.

But, you can just do an NCB every 4 months, not buying BA, that makes quite a bit of cash, especially if its a SFBM.

JW - "What do you want to do with your NCB?"

Fight ;-)

Seriously, like most NCBs just trying things out, and growing personal NW till you can make an assault on the top.

"Let's wait for Flamey to weigh in."

Hey, what's that supposed to mean?

QBJohnnywas June 14 2007 8:12 AM EDT

If you're really planning an assault on the top you have to be either ready to go, with decent weapons and bank roll. Or take a longer view and plan it. I'd do something basic and cheap, like a single mage and hoard those cash rewards, and generate ideas. Four months is gone in...well in four months; it's not long to take the time over!

Hehe. Vicious, I CM'd you as soon as you posted this topic, and you still haven't gotten it! You should check your chatmail, kitty!

Flamey,
I've done MM Mage before. It was actually pretty good - can't remember if I ended up with 2 or 3 minions, but yeah it was OK.

I take your point about growing it for someone else - fair enough, just thought I'd run it up the old flagpole and see if it floated.

Vicious Cat June 14 2007 8:18 AM EDT

OB - replied, you naughty stork you

Flamey June 14 2007 8:21 AM EDT

Mages can make it to the top! Without a bankroll, except for the buying BA.

He talks like that in RL too. [sigh]

Is this Single FB Mage Flamey?
I take it I need evasion (I've got DBs) as well?
and a ToE?
Oh hang on - I've got an RoBF kicking about...

Brakke Bres [Ow man] June 14 2007 8:39 AM EDT

RoBF? dont use that. Better use the RoE and later on ToE for a long time

Flamey June 14 2007 8:40 AM EDT

Making it to the top?

You probably want a more specialised mage strategy, not a generic one. Find PoisoN and Godwolf's Strat, they have pretty decent ones.

a SFBM, yes would need evasion, I'm not the best with ratios, but you don't really need them, just train things roughly at first and see what you need to beat those who you lose again. Do they hit you too often, or hit you to hard? Or do you need a quicker kill? The Tattoo then comes into play, you choose one to augment the part you want, quicker kill is SF/FF getting hit too hard, you can use a ToE, but I don't suggest anything other than those three for a SFBM.

Flamey June 14 2007 8:41 AM EDT

whoops, Tiger is right, you want to use a RoE for the start of it, I don't know when to switch, but you want to get use of a RoE in there.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 14 2007 8:56 AM EDT

Find someone who wants a team for forging.

Make a signle Mage with a RoE. Fight for 4 months and save all you cash (you can make an obsene amount of cash from low PRs now!), sell the team at the end to a forger.

:)
