So now we have a new reason to call in sick:
Game Addiction Disorder
I don't know if Addiction or disorder is right .Maybe I've been a little sick from time to time. Two weeks to a month is the longest I've been gaga for a game.Ehh maybe ,probably not though!

I have GADS.
The first step to recovery is admittance. But I'm not trying to recover. More like, show off.
personally, i think that it is stupid. people that suffer adverse affects from games do not suffer from GAD, but from a lack of responsibility, knowing what things they need to do, but forsaking them. Sounds more like a personality disorder that is pre-existent but made more obvious by video games.
besides, they don't have any side affects like any good addiction does, aside from boredom ;).
I'll go with Pit on this one.
Game Addiction (as it is, trying to become a recognized medical condition) is a totally stupid way to make irresponsible people even more irresponsible, and make those who really suffer from behavioral disfunctions be treated with uncompatible therapies.
As in, if you truely have an underlying disfunction that makes you destroy yourself by playing games (which I am sure happens 100% of the time), no doctor, even the most brilliant one, will be able to help you by treating your ''game addiction'' since as soon as this will be gone, you will get hooked on something else.
Lunch is over, so I'll cut it there, and see if I get something more to add later.
From what I heard, if the AMA does declare game addiction something "real" then states will have something to wave in the air when they try to push forward legislation regarding violent video games, and violence induced by video games and legislation to restrict or ban video games of those kind. Bad news for gamers if the AMA goes forward with this.
bah! everything is a "disease" or a "disorder" these days. so if I try to use the excuse "I can't get to work on time because I have BA to burn." will they buy it? I think not!

Bad news for gamers? Nah.. Violent video games will never be banned. The only thing they are going to do is poke blame on other people and make people show ID when they buy games. Disclaimer heaven.. $$
