PS2 classics? (in Off-topic)

I need a new game. What are some of the games you'd consider must-own for the playstation 2?

i dont know if you would consider a classic but guitar hero 1 and 2 are very fun to play but also very expensive. if you like rpgs final fantasy X was very good also.

Gran Turismo 3 is wicked fun, my most favorite racing game of all time.
God of War is ridiculously brutal and fun.
Devil May Cry 3 is AWESOME.. And so hard, so so hard.
Oh and of course Guitar Hero I and II (both as good as the other).. Or as I like to call it.. crack.

I never owned a PS2, but I spent a lot of time playing Metal Gear Solid 2 on my roommate's box.

if you ever like final fantasy tactics, i recommend Disgaea I or II.

Games I bought but haven't had time to play, but I think they might be in the Best list:

Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts 2 (the fighting got old eventually in 1, I hear it's better in 2)

Others worth considering:

Shinobi
Dark Cloud series, kinda Zelda lite
Justice League (better than the similar Marvel titles IMO)

Racing: The Burnout series. Crashes rule.
Music: Amplitude, GH1 and GH2
Adventure/Violence: Grand Theft Auto games
Shooters: All pretty good, Black is cheap, now, but I haven't played (but have heard good things)

Other fun games:

I agree with Kingdom Hearts 2 just as long as you can bear the stupidly prolonged intro to the game where you don't do much except for fight a few crappy enemies and a decent boss.
Grandia 2 is a very good RPG in my eyes, especially for how much you can get it for.
Dynasty Warriors series is brilliant (except for number 2, not enough secrets or options in that one)
Syberia 2 is also one which will keep you occupied/confused for long periods of time :)

Given that you said "classics", how can any list be complete without some Lara?

Daughter no.1 (for that read me) received Tomb Raider Legend (no.7) from Santa a while back and I love it :)

i used to play my ps2 non stop but im much more of a casual gamer now.

if you want some "pick up and play" action, try Battlefield 2
any Medal Of Honor titles [all under 10 im sure]

all of those should be pretty easy to find in bargain bins and give you a ton of replay value. enjoy :]
