what do they effect? for example, i always miss my opponent, should i increase my dex or else? does strenght make me hit stronger or?

HP is pretty self-explanatory, 0 HP means your dead, its your health. ST is how hard you hit, that's basically what it affects, how much damage you're capable of dealing. DX can cause you to hit them more than once in a round and it can stop you from missing them.

So, yes, if you keep missing up your DX some more, though they should pretty much be equal.

Oh, and welcome to CB :)

Does ST reduce how much damage you take, I faintly remember that being the case in CB1. I realize the amount it reduces is probably somewhat negligible, but does it still have an effect?

I'm fairly certain the ST difference between you and your opponent does count for some "virtual" AC.

I don't think it does all that much, but it is true.
